J.D. finds himself in a dream world, imagining life as a hotshot doctor at the hospital, far from his mundane reality as a concierge. However, the truth is that despite the good pay, he's bored out of his mind. One random day, he drops by the Sacred Hospital to check on one of his patients who got admitted. The minute he steps into the hospital halls, he is hit by a wave of nostalgia.

Turk immediately senses J.D.'s presence in the building, and they struggle to do the “eagle.” Let’s just say they’re lucky they only got minor elbow injuries! In the excitement, Carla asks if they can all have dinner since it has been a while. Turk asks for some man time with J.D., as he has been feeling overwhelmed by the female energy at home. Carla agrees to give him some time to catch up with J.D.
We quickly learn that J.D. and Elliot got divorced, and she is not happy to see him in her space. In the meantime, J.D. drops by Mrs. Brooks’ room and notices that her labs look fine. He tries to remain professional as he asks why Dr. Park admitted his patient. Dr. Park thinks she might have ischaemic bowels, while J.D. thinks otherwise. As they argue, the chief of medicine, Perry, approaches. To settle the matter, they agree to run labs on the patient to see who is right. J.D. is taken aback by Perry referring to him as an ‘oldie’ and venting about the new, emotionally sensitive interns. Sibby, the new head of HR at Sacred Heart, constantly monitors J.D. and reminds him to moderate his language.
In the meantime, Carla and Turk encourage Elliot to flirt with another hot doctor. J.D. interrupts to discuss his dinner date with Turk, who quickly reschedules his surgeries to leave sooner.
Later, as J.D. engages in a conversation with his patient, Perry enlists him to oversee a group of interns. The new intern, Asher, panics during the arterial blood gas extraction from Mrs. Brooks. Another intern, Blake, steps in to assist and successfully completes the procedure. Watching the interns prompts J.D. to recall his passion for teaching. As he hopes to catch some juicy gossip, J.D. overhears the interns referring to Turk as Dr. Bummer. Carla also shares with him how Turk has been feeling down lately, and he seems to understand what she's talking about. Even Hooch chimes in! J.D. starts to worry about Turk. The test results for Mrs. Brooks return, confirming J.D.'s diagnosis, so he and Turk delight in showing off their findings to Perry and Dr. Park.
On the other side of the hospital, a man seeks help from the interns, hoping they'll check on his wife so he can avoid paying ER bills. Unfortunately, Blake harshly turns him down. As they leave for dinner, J.D. asks Turk what's going on with him. Turk reveals that he's feeling burnt out and has lost his joy in medicine. Turk never mentioned it because he didn't think J.D. could relate. Just then, Dr. Park passes by and informs J.D. that Perry is the one who wanted to admit Mrs. Brooks.
The following morning, J.D. tries to angrily confront Turk for going out with Todd, while Perry questions why Elliot is acting like the hurt party when she was the one who ended her marriage with J.D. Later, J.D. confronts Perry for intentionally keeping Mrs. Brooks at the hospital. Perry asks him to pin it because he's going through it with one of the interns, Tosh, who insists on learning medicine from YouTube videos. Perry gives her a piece of his mind and leaves after Sibby calls him out.
J.D. sticks around to teach Tosh, who finally successfully performs the procedure. He notices that Blake is not happy for Tosh and talks to him about the importance of having people around you. Of course, Blake insists he's good on his own. Later, Perry asks J.D. to return to the hospital to teach the interns again. Dashana approaches J.D., and he encourages her to talk to Turk about how he has failed her as a teacher. On his way out, J.D. overhears the man who had asked Blake for help earlier confronting him after his wife died in the car accident. He encourages the other interns to show Blake some support. The incident inspires J.D. to take the job offer, only to be informed by Perry that he will be the new chief of medicine. He believes J.D.'s skills in teaching the interns and getting under Dr Park's skin will be an asset, especially since he wanted the job himself. The episode ends with J.D and Turk sharing a beer on the roof while discussing the male loneliness epidemic in today's society
