Second Shot at Love – K-drama Episode 10 1

Ui-joon's timely intervention brings a glimmer of hope, persuading Gwang-ok that this operation serves as a sacred path for both mother and daughter to achieve redemption. Touched by Ui-joon's words, Gwang-ok eventually consents, paving the way for the surgery. As Gwang-ok recovers in the hospital's tender care, Geum-ju bounces back with resilience. Moreover, Geum-ju mends fences with Hyeon-ju, urging her to consider a relationship with Seon-wook. Hyeon-ju, however, declines, opting instead to shoulder the responsibility of running the family's bed and breakfast.

The townspeople converge at the hospital to offer their support to Gwang-ok, with the notable exception of Ms. Nosy. A surprising revelation unfolds when Ui-joon foils an attempted robbery at Ms. Nosy's restaurant, only to discover that the perpetrator is none other than Instructor Kim, her own flesh and blood. This unexpected twist prompts a poignant conversation among the men about the inheritance of parental traits, with a reassuring note that Ui-joon bears no resemblance to his father, Mr. Seo.

The scene shifts to Ui-joon poring over news articles, in search of clues about his estranged father. A nurse enters, handing over a photograph of Mr. Seo that Ui-joon had inadvertently left behind at the nursing home. She reveals herself as a retired nurse who once cared for Mr. Seo, expressing astonishment when Ui-joon confesses his desire to aid in his father's recovery.

We observe that Baek has meticulously orchestrated the meeting. The nurse, who continues to serve as Mr. Seo's caretaker, vents her frustrations about Ui-joon's seemingly futile search efforts, all the while unaware of Mr. Seo's presence. In a fleeting moment of clarity, Mr. Seo comprehends that her rants are directed at his own son.

On Ui-joon's birthday, Geum-ju goes above and beyond to make the day special for him. Nurse Baek also pays a visit, and as she departs, she expresses her heartfelt wish for Ui-joon to leave his past behind and embrace happiness.

Elsewhere, Young-woong's mother sits with Mrs. Kim, who has yet to inquire about Gwang-ok's wellbeing. Mrs. Kim sulks over her son's actions and dismisses Gwang-ok's recovery efforts with a wave of her hand. However, she is consumed by guilt when Gwang-ok thoughtfully checks in on her.

But worry not, for Seon-hwa showers Gwang-ok with affection and even brings her nourishment. Deeply touched, Gwang-ok expresses her hope that Seon-wook will look after his sister well. Hyeon-ju finds herself once again torn between prioritizing her own feelings and those of Seon-hwa.

Nonetheless, Seon-wook stands firm in his resolve, choosing to wait patiently until Hyeon-ju is mentally prepared to embark on a romantic journey. Young-woong, however, finds his unwavering optimism irritating. Now, turning our attention to the birthday celebrant, Geum-ju fulfills Ui-joon's earlier aspiration by taking him to the mountains. Ui-joon, initially reserved, gradually lets go and finds joy in their adventure, reminiscent of Nurse Baek's heartfelt wish for his happiness. Upon their return, Geum-ju surprises Ui-joon with a cake and a personalized video message. But that very night, Ui-joon is haunted by a nightmarish vision of the deceased nurse.

Seon-hwa continues her diligent contributions at the Han household, viewing Gwang-ok as her surrogate mother. The women fret over Hyeon-ju's loneliness, prompting Seon-hwa to arrange a blind date for her with an older divorcee. Though initially agreeing, Hyeon-ju intends to reject him face-to-face. Unbeknownst to Hyeon-ju, a tipsy Seon-wook pleads with her not to pursue this relationship. Seon-hwa, who overhears this conversation by eavesdropping on Seon-wook and Young-woong, confronts Hyeon-ju, feeling betrayed and believing that she is of no concern to Hyeon-ju. In a moment of despair, Seon-hwa attempts suicide, only to be rescued by Hyeon-ju, who promises to distance herself from Seon-wook.

Elsewhere, Ui-joon encounters Nurse Jeong's mother, who returns the money he had given her, emphatically declaring her inability to forgive him. As for Geum-ju, she chances upon some gossipy nurses at the hospital, disparaging Ui-joon. Intrigued, Geum-ju delves deeper into Nurse Jeong's background, uncovering vicious comments aimed at Ui-joon. They speak of how the son of a murderer is unworthy of becoming a doctor, painting a vivid picture of the prejudice Ui-joon faces.

Elsewhere, Mr. Seo has regained all his lost memories and insists on confronting Ui-joon. The caretaker reassures Nurse Baek that Ui-joon remains oblivious to the unfolding drama. A memory resurfaces, revealing that Nurse Jeong tragically passed away on Ui-joon's birthday. During the funeral, Mrs. Jeong's fury was palpable as she laid eyes on Ui-joon. Deeply loyal to Jeong, Nurse Baek quickly intervened, escorting her away while shooting Ui-joon daggers with her piercing gaze.

In the present moment, Ui-joon finds himself drowning in self-pity when Geum-ju discovers him at Jeong's columbarium. With unwavering conviction, she insists that the nurse's demise is not his cross to bear, causing him to break down in tears.

In the epilogue of Episode 10 of "Second Shot at Love," Geum-ju attempts to record a birthday message for Ui-joon. However, her emotions overwhelm her, rendering her unable to stop crying as she expresses her heartfelt gratitude for his love and unwavering support.
