Episode 11 of "Second Shot at Love" kicks off with a tender moment as Geum-ju offers solace to Ui-joon, who unburdens his heart, revealing fragments of his tumultuous past. In 1996, tragedy struck when his mother passed away, a loss so overwhelming that his father, unable to cope, deserted him. Left to fend for himself, Ui-joon found solace only in the arms of his grandmother and Geum-ju. As years rolled by, his father reappeared, but not as the loving parent he longed for; instead, he returned as an alcoholic, constantly demanding money.
Ui-joon, having aspirations of becoming a doctor, eventually succeeded in his endeavor, only to find himself caught in a harrowing ordeal when he involuntarily admitted Mr. Seo, his estranged father. Mr. Seo, deceitful and unrepentant, feigned recovery and, upon release, assaulted Ui-joon on his birthday, resulting in the accidental death of Nurse Jeong. Due to his clinically diagnosed alcoholism, Mr. Seo faced a lenient sentence, a fact that weighed heavily on Ui-joon's conscience, haunting him for the loss of Jeong and what he perceived as justice denied. This guilt-ridden reflection fueled Ui-joon's unwavering sobriety.
Elsewhere, Gwang-ok's discharge from the hospital was met with joy and warmth from everyone around. Nurse Baek, after ensuring Gwang-ok's comfort, excused herself, mentioning yet another club she had joined, seemingly dedicated to Ui-joon's well-being. The Hans marveled at Ui-joon's fortune in having such a devoted friend, though Geum-ju couldn't help but find their bond somewhat peculiar. Ui-joon, ever the jester, brushed it off with a quip about his inherent likability.
The narrative shifts to Mr. Seo, whose erratic behavior continued to cause disturbances whenever he regained consciousness. Nurse Baek pondered whether her visit had provoked his latest outbreak. Ui-joon shared with her about his encounter facilitated by the police, with Caretaker Oh. She expressed her wish for Ui-joon to move past his troubles and embrace happiness. Intriguingly, Ui-joon discovered that Oh and Baek were classmates, though Baek feigned ignorance of the connection.
Turning our attention to the secondary romance, Hyeon-ju made the decision to withdraw her twins from their taekwondo class. Seon-wook, desperate to reverse this, pleaded with his sister Seon-hwa for assistance, but she evasively declined. After his departure, she declared a definitive end to her relationship with Hyeon-ju, drawing a line under their tumultuous past.
Next, Ms. Nosy persists in her sulking, deliberately avoiding Gwang-ok. Yet, Gwang-ok, missing her presence, seeks her out. Ms. Nosy is struck with guilt for her earlier rudeness, the illness serving as a stark reminder of life's fragility. A flashback unfolds, revealing Ms. Nosy's husband's thoughtlessness—he indulges in drinking sprees with friends during their honeymoon, even casually mentioning that Gwang-ok was his first love. Presently, Ms. Nosy confesses her insecurity, having taken it out on Gwang-ok unfairly. Gwang-ok, with a compassionate heart, forgives her as she apologizes sincerely.
Turning our focus to the main couple, Geum-ju is entrusted with overseeing a car accident case. Ironically, the van involved belongs to the nursing home, and Ui-joon shares with her that her father was reportedly spotted there. Her spirits lift when she discovers the gift he had given her years ago. He desires to present her with something grander, but she cherishes the necklace, donning it with delight.
Upon arriving home, Geum-ju is torn between her happiness and Hyeon-ju's sorrow. Hyeon-ju reveals her desire to mend her relationship with Seon-hwa. The sisters, finding solace in each other, lift each other's spirits, although Hyeon-ju mysteriously ignores Seon-wook's calls.
Disheartened, Seon-wook yearns to drown his sorrows in alcohol once more. In an attempt to discourage him, Young-woong inadvertently lets slip that a drunken Seon-wook had once ruined the friendship between Seon-hwa and Hyeon-ju. Outside, Instructor Kim catches sight of Seon-hwa bringing hangover remedies for Seon-wook, dressed in an old, worn jacket. Kim scolds her for neglecting her well-being, unaware that Seon-wook overhears and feels a pang of guilt.
Geum-ju visits the nursing home to address the car accident issue but departs abruptly, missing Ui-joon's arrival to pick her up. Instead, Ui-joon bumps into Caretaker Oh, shocked to see her since she had told him she had retired. She claims it's only a temporary return, but their reunion is abruptly ended by a phone call.
Regarding Geum-ju, she chances upon Nurse Baek at the bustling bus terminal. With the intent to startle her friend, Geum-ju approaches, only to be met with Baek's assertion that she is bound for Seoul. Puzzlement clouds Geum-ju's face as she notices the bus Baek boards is headed to Myeongju, the very locale of the nursing home.
Elsewhere, Ms. Nosy organizes a jubilant celebration in honor of Gwang-ok's recuperation, much to the delight of the townsfolk. Her husband, Ki-beom, displays a lack of refinement, but Gwang-ok steps in, tactfully putting him in his place, much to Ms. Nosy's relief. Amidst the revelry, Seon-hwa is conspicuously absent, prompting her mother-in-law to jest about the oddity, considering she is practically an integral part of the Han family. Seon-wook and Hyeon-ju are wracked with guilt. As the festivities draw to a close, Seon-wook offers an apology and vows to distance himself from the situation, though he harbors hope that Hyeon-ju can empathize with Seon-hwa's plight and forgive her, for she has no one else to turn to.
The enigma surrounding Nurse Baek deepens as Ui-joon recalls witnessing her place a call to Caretaker Oh. Nonetheless, he chooses to extend her the benefit of the doubt. Determined to uncover the truth, Geum-ju scours the internet for information on all the clubs Baek is affiliated with, only to discover they have all ceased operations. On her way to the to procure medication, she overhears nurses gossiping about Baek's supposed animosity towards Ui-joon. By chance, she encounters Ui-joon's mentor, who reveals that Baek was close only to Nurse Jeong and Ui-joon, and felt immense guilt for swapping shifts with Jeong on the day of her untimely demise.
Concurrently, the police update Ui-joon on the startling revelation that the nursing home actually belongs to Nurse Baek, with Caretaker Oh serving as its director. As Oh tucks Mr. Seo in for the night, the elderly man awakens and his gaze falls upon a syringe. Ui-joon arrives at the nursing home and confronts Baek head-on. Suddenly, Mr. Seo bursts out, wielding a shattered glass bottle, declaring his intent to kill Ui-joon as revenge against Nurse Baek. In a fit of rage, Seo lunges forward, but Baek steps in front of Ui-joon, taking the stab intended for him. With Mr. Seo fleeing the scene, Geum-ju hastily dials the police. A flashback reveals the conversation between Baek and Seo that ignited his fury, in which Baek discloses Ui-joon as her son.
The epilogue to The Second Shot at Love Episode 11 finds the class gathering for their graduation ceremony. The Hans meticulously select bouquets for Geum-ju and Ui-joon, only to have a lady dressed in red discreetly foot the bill. It is none other than Nurse Baek, who watches Ui-joon from afar before silently departing.
