Episode 5 of "Secrets of the Silent Witch" kicks off with an exhilarating scene as Monica and Nero witness an Earth Dragon wreaking havoc upon the city. Just as panic begins to set in, a brave boy steps forward to confront the beast, his fiery spells blazing with intent. Yet, his efforts prove futile against the dragon's might. At this critical juncture, the silent witch prepares a potent spell of her own, unleashing it in tandem with the boy's final attempt. The combined force proves victorious, vanquishing the dragon, and Monica's contribution remains undetected amidst the chaos.
Nero marvels at the resilience of humanity, as the citizens swiftly return to their daily routines as if nothing had happened. He further notices Monica's strength of character, unfazed by conversing with him in his human guise.
The following day presents Monica with a fresh dilemma: selecting her elective courses. Felix, sensing her indecisiveness, offers to introduce her to the magecraft lessons, and she inadvertently accepts. On their journey to the class, they encounter Neil, another esteemed member of the student council, and Glenn, the very boy who dared to challenge the dragon.
Upon entering the classroom, Monica is astounded to find that the professor is none other than William Macragan, who had previously taught her and had witnessed her using unchanted magic for the very first time. Fortunately, his vision is so impaired that he fails to recognize her.
However, her troubles are far from over. The professor decides to conduct a mana test, which could potentially reveal her identity as one of the seven sages. As Monica frantically seeks a way to avoid detection, Professor Macragan catches a glimpse of her and wonders if he knows her from somewhere. But before he can engage her in conversation, Glenn steals the spotlight by surpassing a mana power of 250 and shattering the testing device.
Monica finds the situation peculiar, given that only two members of the esteemed Seven Sages possess such unrefined might. Yet, escape holds a greater urgency. She halts only when confronted by the chess classes, a game she has never ventured into, but Elliott offers to tutor her with enthusiasm. Though a novice, the crowd's intrigue piques when Monica claims that chess, unlike war strategy, is a simpler affair. As the game progresses, Elliott marvels at her talent, ultimately besting her only because she employs castling—a maneuver he hadn't imparted. He feels a pang of regret but is loath to suffer defeat in full view.
The following day, Monica lends her artistic prowess by sketching a merchant guild's crest, rescuing Elliott from Cyril's lamentable drawings. This act earns her an invitation to accompany the noble on a meeting with the guild. Meanwhile, Elliott yearns for a private moment to apologize for his chess-match demeanor. Yet, Monica, astute as ever, anticipates his words, realizing the crest belongs not to merchants but to disguised brigands.
Elliott, driven by instinct, lunges forward to halt their advance, intending to give Monica time to flee. However, she proves more adept at managing the situation. A spell sends their horses into a frenzy, one of which goes rogue, trampling the culprits. Yet, Monica stands frozen, unable to quell the beast.
At this crucial juncture, Casey Grove, a second-year student and a country girl at heart, arrives timely to soothe the horse. Her extensive knowledge of equestrianism shines through. Despite her noble status, she often feels an outsider amidst her peers. Thrilled to engage with Monica, Casey eagerly invites her to join her horse riding classes. She even whisks Monica atop the wagon, revealing a breathtaking vision from within, so enchanting that Monica readily agrees to enroll in both riding and chess lessons.
