Snakes and Ladders – Season 1 Episode 6 1

As anticipated, the law enforcement officers soon knock on her door, delivering the grim news that her estranged husband was discovered deceased in a nearby river, his demise chalked up to alcohol consumption without any suspicion cast upon her. The authorities request Dora's presence to identify the body, paving the way for its release and eventual burial. She then breaks the heart-wrenching news to Tono about his father's passing.

Elsewhere, Juana engages Nicolas in a conversation about his altercation with Tono, endeavoring to clear the air and reassuring him that her affections lie elsewhere. Nicolas finds himself on the cusp of unburdening his soul to Juana, but her words about their shared aspirations—Nicolas becoming a prominent politician and Juana his supportive influencer spouse—stifle his confession.

Meanwhile, Muriel receives grim tidings from his business manager: their company's license to import chocolate into Spain has been revoked. The perpetrators of this underhanded act are revealed to be Tamara and Vicente, whose bond continues to strengthen, marked by increasing joy and open dialogue. Moreover, the governor reaches out to Vicente, urging him to expedite the citizenship application process.

The solemnity of Antonio's funeral becomes a stage for underlying tensions. Tamara and Vicente arrive with ulterior motives, their presence causing ripples in the otherwise mournful atmosphere. Josefina extends her condolences and offers Dora her severance pay, a gesture Dora politely declines, citing her voluntary resignation. Muriel, sensing discomfort at the sight of Tamara and Vicente, seeks to whisk Dora aside, urging her to expel them from the premises. Yet, Dora, keen to maintain her grieving persona, recognizes that a confrontation with the couple, who have come to pay their respects, would be inappropriate.

Adding another layer of intrigue, the governor sends an oversized wreath to Dora, fueling Vicente and Tamara's anxiety about her connection to the high-ranking official.

Nicolas makes an appearance, yet Tono is far from pleased. He accuses Nicolas with a heart laden with anger, branding him as the catalyst behind his father's demise. Nicolas, unperturbed, recounts to Tono how his father spurned him, manipulated him against Dora, lived off his labor, and meted out daily beatings. Worst of all, Antonio instilled in Tono a loathing for his very self. Gradually, Tono comes to terms with his feelings regarding his father's passing, and Nicolas offers him solace in his time of grief.

At the funeral, Martha is enveloped by an eerie sensation, prompting her to confide in Dora about her unsettling feelings. She believes the omens suggest that Antonio's death was no mere accident and that the perpetrator lurks nearby. Muriel walks by, engaged in a phone call with Juana, inquiring about her absence from the solemn event. Martha declares that Muriel seems to be bearing the weight of a deceased soul, though Dora swiftly brushes aside her suspicions.

The funeral proceeds without further incident, but Tamara and Vicente execute their clandestine plot with meticulous precision. As the mourners assemble for the final rites, Tamara seductively lures Roque into one of the secluded rooms. She leads him to the coffin storage area and persuades him into a passionate embrace. With a mischievous gleam, Tamara alerts Vicente, who eavesdrops on their love-laden groans as they lose themselves in their intimacy. Tamara had cunningly convinced Roque to engage in their love play within one of the caskets, but to their astonishment, it suddenly slams shut during the height of their ardor.

Tamara seeks Vicente's assistance, prompting him to discreetly depart as Dora concludes her moving oration. Clutching the murder weapon close, Dora reveals to the gathered crowd Antonio's deep attachment to the solitary trophy he ever garnered, rationalizing her desire to accompany him with it in death. Meanwhile, Vicente embarks on a quest to locate the coffin where Roque and Tamara are confined. Dora slips the cherished trophy into the coffin's confines before sealing it shut, a poignant gesture amidst the solemnity. Apparently, melancholy serves as an unexpected aphrodisiac, as Tono finds himself contemplating an intimate encounter with Nicolas, while Tamara and Roque have already embarked on their own liaison.

As Dora and Martha's harmonious song reaches its crescendo, Tono and Nicolas sneak away unnoticed. Juana, who attended the wake following Muriel's beckoning call, mingles among the mourners. Curiosity piqued, she trails Tono and Nicolas to the garage, where she inadvertently witnesses their passionate tryst inside Nicolas' car. Horrified, Juana flees in tears.

With the wake now concluded, the attendees depart, leaving Dora alone in a haze of haunting hallucinations. She believes she spies a figure and hastily ascends the stairs, only to arrive in time to witness Vicente aiding a naked Tamara and Roque from their coffin's confines, an image both surreal and poignant.
