As the second episode of Spartacus: House of Ashur unfolds, Korris leads Achillia into the training yard, amidst a group of eager Gladiators vying for dominance and the coveted crown. The absence of a champion in their house fuels their determination to emerge as the ultimate conquerors, each willing to take on the Ferox Brothers in the arena for the prize. Ashur steps forward, promising "exotic offerings" to the arena and introduces Achillia as the Goddess of Death. The other Gladiators, including the arrogant Tarchon, who is paired with her during sparring, merely chuckle at the notion. Achillia refuses to endure a whipping from Korris, causing him concern that she won't be easily swayed.

Ashur, in a hushed tone, reminds Korris of Spartacus's initial resistance before he was wielded as a weapon. Despite Korris's insistence, Dominus insists that he mold this woman to his liking. The prize is a fight against the Ferox Brothers in the arena, but they have another task at hand: Julius Caesar sends the House of Ashur to Appian Way to remove the rotting corpses strung up on crosses. This gruesome assignment serves as a reminder that Ashur remains a pawn in this game.
Their choices are limited, and among those deceased is Gannicus, the champion of the House of Batiatus. However, Achillia is not part of the cleanup crew. She is kept behind bars and approached by Hilara, who threatens her with death if she lays a hand on Ashur again. Despite her indifferent shrugs and sneers, Hilara promises there are numerous ways to kill that aren't immediately apparent to the naked eye, hinting at the sinister use of poison.
As the soldiers' return echoes through the air, Korris imparts a solemn message to Achillia, hinting at her impending confrontation with the formidable Brothers Ferox. She must be prepared, and so, for now, she engages in intense sparring sessions with numerous men at once. Despite her initial struggles, Achillia refuses to be subdued; her resilience is evident even as she's brought down to the ground.
Her presence at the arena proves disruptive, particularly when Creticus confronts her over dinner. With a sneer, he hurls her bowl to the floor, branding her a dog. Korris steps in to diffuse the situation, but his words carry a warning to Ashur—the men's restlessness threatens to boil over into something more dire. Even Korris, though not entirely pleased with the arrangement, sees potential in Achillia's indomitable spirit.
While the other men revel in their pleasures of women and wine, Achillia persists in her outdoor practice sessions. Korris approaches her with a cup of wine, only for her to shatter it with her sword in a display of unyielding determination.
Dominus receives a cryptic message from Gabinius, inviting him over that night for an unknown reason. Despite this uncertainty, Dominus remains confident in his abilities.
In this very moment, Ashur meets with Viridia, Gabinius' daughter, who possesses an undeniable attraction towards him. However, their encounter is cut short before any spark can ignite. Viridia's loss of her husband to Spartacus fuels her admiration for Ashur, seeing him as a heroic figure.
Gabinius and Ashur share a meal where the latter reveals Dominus's predicament—caught between two worlds. He sees the man's desperation and seeks to exploit it to his advantage. Encouraged to speak his mind, Ashur lays bare his true feelings about Gabinius—a weak man clinging desperately to power, fueled by a vengeful, serpentine wife. He laughs at the absurdity of it all before ultimately booting the man out with a forceful kick.
Back at the House of Ashur, two drunken Gladiators—Creticus and Ephesius—stumble into the training yard and taunt Achillia relentlessly.
As the fight erupts, Creticus seems poised to prey upon her, but Achillia fights with all her might to escape her predicament, managing to outmatch both men. In a display of raw strength and unbridled ferocity, she tears Creticus's member off with her bare hands, leading to his demise. Korris is enraged, reminding everyone that only Ashur has the right to take life within their Brotherhood. However, Korris eventually steps forward to defend the Brotherhood, engaging Achillia in a fierce battle around the arena. Though he quickly dispatches her, Achillia's unrelenting aggression leaves an indelible mark.
Just as Korris is about to deliver the final blow, he realizes that Achillia has managed to draw blood. This act of bravery and determination earns her his respect, making her one of them – and protected from further harm.
