Star Wars: Tales of the Empire – Episode 2 1

The episode opens with Imperial shuttles hovering like omnipotent vultures above Corvus, a planet teeming with untapped resources and the focal point of Morgan's industrial endeavors. Boarding one of these sleek vessels, Morgan pitches her revolutionary concept for the TIE Defenders—a novel class of starfighters meant to bestow upon the Empire an unassailable advantage in its relentless war against the Rebellion. However, her groundbreaking proposal meets with a wall of skepticism from the Imperial officers, who are preoccupied with exploiting Corvus' wealth rather than investing in her ambitious endeavor.

Among the officers, Gilad Pellaeon emerges as a figure of keen interest. An associate of the formidable Thrawn and a character steeped in the rich tapestry of Star Wars lore, Pellaeon finds himself intrigued by Morgan's visionary design and her steadfast commitment to the Empire. He probes into her motives, seeking to unravel the underpinnings of her fervent alignment with the Empire's cause. Morgan's response, a stock declaration of loyalty to the Empire's grandeur, falls flat in satisfying Pellaeon's curiosity, prompting him to depart, leaving Morgan to grapple with the sincerity of her own intentions.

Upon her return to the soil of Corvus, Morgan is confronted by Wing, a local leader who lays bare his accusations, charging her with betraying her promise to bring prosperity to the inhabitants of Corvus through the TIE Defender project. The townsfolk, who once placed their trust in Morgan, now confront the stark reality of the Empire's rapacious exploitation of their world. As tensions escalate and the populace's anger swells, Morgan retreats into the confines of her compound, lost in contemplation over her deeds and the path she has chosen to tread.

In a stunning twist, Morgan is assaulted by Rukh, Thrawn's formidable Noghri bodyguard, in a grueling test of her prowess and determination. The brutal clash that follows captures the awe-struck gaze of the townsfolk, yet Wing stands idly by, underscoring the profound betrayal etched into the hearts of the Corvus inhabitants. Emerging as the victor from the fray, Morgan is confronted by Pellaeon, who unveils that the entire ordeal was a meticulously orchestrated trial by Thrawn himself.

Thrawn, now an Admiral of formidable standing, makes his grand entrance, recognizing Morgan as a Witch of Dathomir and admiring her relentless ambition. He is privy to her visionary TIE Defender concept, thanks to Pellaeon, and foresees its immense potential in the ongoing struggle against the Rebellion. Thrawn also laments the Empire's myopic focus on profit, to the neglect of its populace's welfare, a glaring flaw he believes will ultimately spell its doom.

Fueled by vengeance and anger, Morgan volunteered to serve under Thrawn, her offer readily accepted by the admiral. He entrusts her with a portion of his fleet to spearhead the TIE Defender initiative. This alliance cements Morgan's ascendancy within the Empire's military hierarchy, paving the way for her future confrontations with Ahsoka Tano and Din Djarin.

As "The Path of Anger" draws to a close, the people of Corvus are left to grapple with the ramifications of Morgan's ascent to power and the tragic loss of their world to the Empire's iron grip. The episode offers a poignant exploration of the moral labyrinths of the Star Wars universe, where loyalty and power are often procured at a steep price.
