Surely Tomorrow – K-drama Episode 5 1

Kyeong-do informs her of his plan to live with her, determined to keep her on track in her quest to quit alcohol. Ji-woo attempts to evict him, but he counters with a reminder of the time she squatted at his place, claiming one of the rooms in her house and teasing her about sharing a room.

Ji-woo steps outside for some fresh air, but Kyeong-do locks her out, igniting another argument. In the heat of the moment, he tricks her into revealing the house's passcode. Frustrated by his use of her shower, Ji-woo retreats outside to sleep on the couch while he occupies her room.

That night, neither of them can fall asleep, their minds racing with thoughts and emotions. The next morning, Kyeong-do leaves for work, warning Ji-woo not to change the passcode. Out of spite, she goes out of her way to change it anyway.

At work, Kyeong-do receives a call intended for his colleague Doo-jin from Da-hye. Surprised to hear Kyeong-do's voice, Da-hye inquires who tipped Dongwoon Daily off about her affair with Jin-eon and requests that he have Doo-jin call her back.

After work, Kyeong-do picks up side dishes from his mother, who attempts to set him up with someone from church but to no avail. That night, he returns to Ji-woo's house, surprised to find that she has not changed the passcode after all.

He stores the side dishes in her refrigerator and prepares ramen for both of them. Ji-woo refuses to eat with him, so he plays a prank, using a mic to create exaggerated ASMR sounds to lure her out. Later, Kyeong-do emerges from his room shirtless and asks Ji-woo to bandage his back. She is initially flustered but notices his reaction to her touch. Teasing him playfully, she hugs Kyeong-do, causing his heartbeat to spike. He forces her to go on a walk and urges her to take frequent walks as a distraction from her drinking habit.

Ji-woo maintains that individuals in a depressed state find solace in walks, but Kyeong-do counter-arguments that this is precisely why she should not fend for herself in the UK's solitude. That night, they return to her apartment, Ji-woo drifting off on the bed while Kyeong-do rests on the couch. The next morning, Ji-woo bestows upon Kyeong-do a sandwich and lays down an ultimatum: he must leave for good. She deposits his belongings at his apartment and texts him about it.

Meanwhile, Jun-soo confronts Min-woo over a failed investment, alleging that he lost money due to Min-woo's mismanagement. However, he soon realizes that Min-woo lost everything in the same scam. Despite this, Min-woo reassures Jun-soo that, given Ji-yeon's condition, he has nothing to fear.

Elsewhere, Ji-woo engages in a conversation with a friend from abroad. Despite her warning, Kyeong-do interrupts her presence, forcing her to leave the apartment. They decide to skip Woo-sik's play, leaving Se-young and Jeong-min as the sole audience members. After the play, Woo-sik, Se-young, and Jeong-min go out for drinks and discuss Woo-sik and Se-young's upcoming wedding.

A flashback transports us to 2015, when Ji-woo and Kyeong-do meet for the first time since her abrupt departure in 2007 at a friend's wedding. Kyeong-do confronts her about leaving without a word, but Ji-woo refuses to engage. As she packs to leave, he continues trying to talk. Drunk on emotions, Kyeong-do forces her to meet him at a park, where he breaks down and accuses her of abandoning him. Ji-woo admits she lied about many things and explains that she left without a word to avoid hurting him.

Despite their differences, the two managed to clear their misunderstanding in their twenties and shared breakfast the next morning. Ji-woo tells him she is leaving for the USA, and Kyeong-do hails a cab to the airport. Though they part on better terms, Kyeong-do still feels a hollowness after she leaves.

That evening, Kyeong-do finds Ji-woo waiting patiently outside his office, her eyes glistening with anticipation. She confesses that she missed her flight, and without hesitation, he welcomes her into his home, his heart already drawn to her warmth. As Ji-woo nestles into a nap on his bed, Kyeong-do busies himself with tidying up his cluttered apartment, transforming it into a haven for their growing intimacy. He watches over her slumber, gently caressing her head as if she were a cherished treasure. His colleagues, as he departs for the day, remark on his uncharacteristic glee.

Upon returning to an empty apartment, Kyeong-do experiences a moment of panic before realizing that Ji-woo had ventured out to do laundry. A wave of relief washes over them as they discuss her plans to stay in Korea, with Kyeong-do eagerly volunteering to be her guardian. That night, after a playful flirtation, they find themselves in a passionate embrace, their love blossoming like a blooming flower in the springtime of their relationship.

The following montage paints a vivid picture of them living as a couple, creating memories together in every corner of their shared life. It culminates with Kyeong-do taking Ji-woo to an amusement park he has rented out for them. The park owner, unaware of their secret, asks him to wire the payment for the rides, and once it's done, they ride several attractions, their laughter and jokes echoing through the air.

As they stand facing each other in the quiet, aging park, the park owner plays an English song, and Ji-woo sway with the music. In their minds, they dance together as a couple, their bodies frozen in time but their spirits intertwined in a dance of longing and love.

The episode ends with a mutual friend forcing Ji-woo to meet Se-young at her wedding just as she is about to leave without saying goodbye to her old friends. The scene captures the delicate balance of their burgeoning relationship and the challenges they face in navigating the complexities of love and friendship.
