Surface – Season 2 Episode 4 1

Elsewhere, Quinn, still reeling from the shock of Phoebe's demise, abruptly exits his office. Narrowly misses James, with whom he had a meeting. Yet, fate intervenes, and later at the hotel bar, their paths cross again. Here, Quinn deceives his wife about his whereabouts while persistently messaging an enigmatic contact, seeking an update.

Richard's eventual call uncovers a sinister twist: Phoebe had exposed Quinn to the press, but with her untimely death, those revealing whispers have seemingly been silenced. Yet, Quinn remains haunted, a state James perceives upon his return to the table, prompting a suggestion to relocate their conversation.

Meanwhile, Julia approaches Callum, her tone tinged with apology for her previous harsh demeanor. She attempts to cozy up to him, driven by her desperation for insights into the case he's delving into. Her motive? To safeguard the lives of everyone involved. Callum, wary of entangling more lives, requests a 24-hour buffer before divulging his source or the concealed truths.

Back at the bar, Quinn, now deeply into his cups, encounters Grace. She confronts him, probing into his actions and his flirtatious demeanor with other women. Grace then turns to James, seeking clarity on what's troubling Quinn. His agitated state fuels her resolve to uncover the truth.

It's not long before Callum's leak sends Quinn's indiscretions with Phoebe spiraling into the tabloids. Grace, catching wind of the scandal, is left stunned. Overwhelmed by the revelation, she impulsively kisses James, sparking a passionate encounter that scorches the night with intensity.

Back at the stables, Tess is joyfully reunited with Eddie, her former steed. She and Eliza, driven by curiosity, set out to explore the enigmatic woods together. There, amidst the underbrush, Tess stumbles upon eerily familiar coordinates and the sight of a wrecked car, accompanied by scattered remnants of a forgotten past. Eliza recalls her own harrowing experience of falling from her horse in these very woods, where Tess had wandered off, seemingly oblivious to the meaning of empathy.

Upon their return to the house, Eliza is summoned away due to her grandfather's unexpected wandering. Seizing the moment, Tess slips inside, her heart pounding with anticipation as she begins to sift through the Huntley House, seeking fragments of her lost memories.

Tess meanders through the grand mansion and stumbles upon a hidden photo developing room, a potential treasure trove of clues. One particular photograph catches her eye—it appears to be a snapshot of her mother. Outdoors, she encounters William, who aims a shotgun at her, demanding to know her business there once more. Fortunately, Eliza arrives just in time to intervene, diffusing the tense situation. Tess, still grappling with her connection to Eliza, struggles to articulate the bond they share.

Fortuitously, the power flickers back to life at that very moment, casting a bright glow on their faces and lifting their spirits. Eliza proudly showcases her room, where Tess's eyes are drawn to an intriguing music box, its mysterious allure hinting at deeper, darker secrets lurking beneath the surface. But what those secrets might entail remains a tantalizing mystery, left to unfold in the next episode!
