The seventh episode of Task commences with Tom and Aleah delving into their predicament with Anthony. Meanwhile, a Dark Hearts member named Vincent convenes with Chief Deputy Mike Dorsey. Given the loss of a federal agent, the gang is severing ties with any implicated parties, including Anthony. Dorsey divulges that a man named Lee Whitehead facilitated a drug shipment, hinting at the possibility of recovering the money from Robbie's sale.

Perry then reaches out to Vincent, inquiring about his standing within the gang. Vincent presents him with an ultimatum—kill Jayson, and perhaps he might survive. Perry grasps a knife, poised for attack, but relents at the eleventh hour. Tom, on the other hand, endeavors to make Sam feel more at ease in their surroundings. Soon after, Aleah arrives, and they journey to Wissahickon Park to conduct their investigation. They discover that Ray Lyman's phone pinged on a cell tower there on the night of Cliff's abduction.
Realizing his predicament, Anthony visits his sister and her children. He explains how he has earned money from unsavory sources but also used it to aid their family in various ways. He declares his intention to surrender to the police, weighed down by Lizzie's death.
Elsewhere, Eryn's body is discovered in the water, her hand clutched around a chain link engraved with Perry's initials. Back at their hideout, Perry realizes that the drug money is stashed at Maeve's house. He calls upon Breaker, while Donna overhears their plan to visit Maeve. At Maeve's residence, she conceals the bag of cash near the chicken coop.
Tom and Aleah uncover that Anthony swapped phones in their evidence locker and kept Ray Lyman's phone with him to lure Cliff to his fate. Donna, concerned for Maeve, reveals to Vincent the whereabouts of Jayson and Perry's hideout. Simultaneously, Breaker informs Jayson about Eryn's body and the evidence found with it. Enraged, Jayson stabs Perry, fleeing just as the other gang members arrive.
Back at home, Sam seems to be getting along well with Emily and Sara. Meanwhile, Kathleen utilizes her connections to locate Ray Lyman's phone, which is close to Anthony's residence. However, Chief Deputy Dorsey arrives first. Anthony grabs his gun and questions him, learning that the Dark Hearts are headed to Maeve's house. Vincent soon arrives at the house to eliminate Anthony but is brought down by Anthony's cunning maneuver.
The narrative unfurls with a tense undercurrent, as though the very air around them crackles with the potential for violence. Anthony, though wounded in the fray, persists in his quest to reach Maeve's side. With blood seeping through his fingers, he stumbles towards her abode, urging her to flee. But fate seems determined to thwart their escape, as Jayson arrives before she can flee, forcing Maeve to yield to his demands for the money.
Tom and Aleah, who had been tailing Anthony's phone, arrive on the scene just in time to add their own brand of chaos. Jayson, sensing the impending danger, takes refuge in the chicken coop while Aleah engages in a fierce struggle that ends in tragedy for Breaker. As Jayson attempts to make a run for it, holding Maeve as a hostage, Anthony, who had been hiding in Jayson's car with the help of Harper, shoots him down.
The case is finally brought to a close, with Anthony recuperating in the hospital and Maeve safe and sound. Tom, who had earlier confessed to Emily that he had not been a good father and vowed to do better, shoulders the responsibility of crafting Ethan's personal statement for his sentencing day.
Tom's statement echoes through the courtroom, detailing Ethan's childhood struggles and the difficulties that came with his psychological disorders. But it is also replete with tales of joyful memories shared and a heartfelt confession of love and forgiveness for Ethan. He promises Ethan that he will be waiting at home upon his release.
The episode then skips forward in time, revealing that Sam has found a new home with Tom. However, Tom's friend and priest, Daniel, advises him that he may not be emotionally equipped to meet the needs of a growing boy. In the end, Tom reluctantly allows Sam to go to his new family.
Meanwhile, Maeve, Wyatt, and Harper bid farewell to their old home and set off for a new beginning, their new residence accompanied by the hard-earned money they had secured through their bravery and resilience.
