In Episode 4 of "Tell Me Lies," the story unfolds in 2009 as Diana schedules an appointment for an abortion. Molly catches a glimpse of Diana and the two girls engage in a conversation. Diana confesses her intention to terminate the pregnancy, while Molly offers to accompany her to the clinic.
Molly then reveals that she plans to hook up with Evan and asks Diana to cover for her in class. Diana is judgmental of Molly's decision to bail on a class to pursue a hook-up with Evan at his convenience.
At Evan's apartment, Molly invites him for coffee afterward, but he declines. The conversation turns to birth control pills and Molly's weight, and inadvertently, she reveals that Diana is seeking an abortion. Evan is taken aback by this revelation.
Meanwhile, Lucy burns her thigh while curling her hair. She receives a call from Alex, who invites her to hang out. Bree sends a photo of herself and Amanda to Oliver, attempting to irritate him.
The photography professor approaches Bree about a special program, asking her to submit new photographs for her portfolio. Oliver locates her after class and forcefully drags her to his cabin. He confronts her about sending the message, and Bree loses her composure, interrogating Oliver about his predatory behavior.
She reveals that she has complained to the University Dean about how he is preying on young women. Oliver dismisses Bree's allegation flippantly, claiming that the Dean had breakfast with him earlier that day.
Oliver tries to imply that he cares for Bree and offers to give her advice by holding her in his office against her will. He calls Bree "needy" and points out her insecurities about being abandoned by her parents before finally letting her go.
Stephen receives a call from Sadie, who thanks him for the tuition payment and abruptly ends the conversation without engaging in any further discussion. Stephen is visibly offended by her cold response. Evan then shares with Stephen the news of Diana's abortion, causing the latter to lose his composure. Wrigley interjects, calling out Evan for publicizing Diana's private matter. Stephen argues that since the baby would be his, he has the right to decide if Diana should keep it. Wrigley tries to reason with Stephen, reminding him that he has no say in Diana's decision since they are not even together. He asks Stephen to keep this information from Pippa, who is approaching their table, but Stephen deliberately mentions it to her.
Stephen visits Diana in her dorm room and confronts her about the pregnancy. Diana firmly puts Stephen in his place and asks him to back off. Stephen urges Diana to talk to her dad about the pregnancy and to reconsider keeping it. Diana mockingly dismisses Stephen's attempt at trying to control her and asks him to leave. Irked by Diana's comment, Stephen reaches out to Catie Parker, another victim of Clint's rape.
Wrigley arrives at Pippa and Bree's dorm room to pick up Pippa. Bree asks him to stay until Pippa returns and they start discussing the photography program. Wrigley congratulates Bree on her achievements. Bree, still shaken up from her conversation with Oliver, asks Wrigley to join her for a drink.
Pippa calls Diana to check up on her, and the latter invites Pippa to her room. Looking at the photos Bree took, Wrigley shares his childhood stories, and Bree brings up her own experiences. Wrigley tries to cheer her up, and they continue their conversation. Bree asks Wrigley if she comes off as insecure, and Wrigley jokes that she is small and intimidating.
Pippa arrives and announces that she won't be able to hang out with Wrigley as she has to write a paper. She leaves with her bag, and Wrigley gives Bree a hug before leaving too.
That night, Lucy and Alex are at Max's bar when she reveals that she used to date the bartender. Alex and Lucy chat about their sexual interest, and Lucy claims that she thinks she is a horrible person. Alex asks her to elaborate, and Lucy explains how she was very rude and mean to Max. Despite her hesitation, Lucy musters up the courage to apologize to Max. Alex and Lucy end up leaving the bar and having sex in his car. When Alex accidentally hurts Lucy, he apologizes to her.
That night, Pippa brings up Diana's pregnancy. Diana freaks out and reveals that Stephen tried to threaten her. Pippa decides to stay over with Diana and comforts her about Stephen. The two end up making out and hooking up.
The next morning, Lucy is asked to meet the University Dean, Rachel Marks, and Marianne. Catie is also present at the meeting. There, Marianne suggests that Lucy and Catie should join forces to expose Chris, but Lucy refuses. She is not ready to come clean about the assault and does not want to draw any attention to herself. She asks Catie to leave her alone, but Rachel tries to pressure Lucy. Lucy lashes out at Marianne and asks her to get her husband to stop terrorizing all the girls on campus.
Meanwhile, Bree finds a Facebook group invitation to a group about Chris raping Lucy. Pippa panics but does not tell Bree anything, while Bree checks up on Lucy. Pippa asks Bree to ignore the group. Bree grows concerned for Lucy, who brushes the matter off. Outside, Bree talks to Pippa about Chris being a rapist. Lucy starts panicking about the issue. She talks to Diana about it and reveals how Stephen knows that she lied about being raped. Diana is confused about how Stephen found out when Lucy reveals that she did something terrible and told Stephen the truth about the false rape allegation to cover up her mistake. Diana is appalled to learn this and Lucy pleads with her to help. Diana simply tells Lucy to do nothing about it.
Later that day, Bree shows up at Evan's apartment, and the two hook up.
The episode moves back to 2015 as Evan and Bree share their first dance at their wedding. Stephen tries to talk to Lucy in private and flaunts his relationship with Lydia. Lucy tries to feel unaffected by this when Lydia drags Stephen away from her. Stephen meets Bree at the bar and wonders why she is not acting on the news of Evan and Lucy's affair. Bree claims that everyone makes mistakes and asks him to forget about the past. Wrigley asks Pippa for a dance, and the two chat about him pretending to still be in love with her.
The episode ends with Wrigley and Bree looking at each other with longing in their eyes while dancing with Pippa and Evan, respectively. Stephen spots this and grows suspicious of Bree and Wrigley.
