Episode 1 of "Thank You, Next" kicks off with an exhilarating scene of Leyla, a woman determined to attend a party despite the odds. She embarks on a long drive, sneakily entering through the back and climbing in through a window, exuding an air of mischief. Upon entering her bedroom, she sighs, her gaze falling upon a wedding dress hanging ominously in the corner—a symbol of the monumental day awaiting her.
Yet, the narrative takes us on a flashback journey through Leyla's vibrant life. We witness her wild spirit in full bloom, partying with abandon and indulging in fleeting romances. One such encounter is with Seyyaz, a handsome man who captures her fancy. At work, she maintains a close-knit bond with her team, including her uncle, at a prestigious law firm. However, during a crucial briefing, Leyla's attention wanders as she scrolls through social media, engrossed in a chat with Seyyaz. Consequently, she is handed the Tepelioglu and Murathan divorce case, leading her to the luxurious abode of Tuba, the wife in question.
Leyla's melodramatic approach to her role as a lawyer (or perhaps an innate lack of acting skills) lands her with a heap of responsibilities. Cem, Tuba's husband, has been married three times in fifteen years, with Tuba being his latest spouse for the past three.
Meanwhile, domestic turmoil brews for Leyla. Her ex, Omer, reappears, blaming a hectic caseload for his prolonged absence. He seeks forgiveness, unaware of Leyla's emotional detachment and her awareness of his infidelity—evidenced by social media photos of him with another woman. When Omer pleads for a fresh start, Leyla coldly reminds him of his betrayal, scoffing at his declarations of love.
The following morning, as Leyla snapshots for Seyyaz, Sarp's urgent call interrupts her revelry with grave news. Tuba has attempted suicide, heavily medicated and apparently driven to drink by her despair. Ironically, Leyla bears some responsibility for this tragedy. During their afternoon together, they indulged in heavy drinking, and Leyla's emotional outburst triggered Tuba's meltdown.
Returning to the chaotic scene, Leyla encounters Cem outside, their interaction frosty and tense. Yet, these events serve as a catalyst for the underlying issues at play.
Later that evening, Leyla finds herself at an opulent restaurant, messaging her friends and savoring the gourmet delights prepared by Seyyaz, who watches her eat with admiring eyes. Their evening culminates in a cozy morning after, with Seyyaz even serving her breakfast. However, tranquility is short-lived as Sarp's erroneous group chat message, including Omer as an admin, spills the beans about Seyyaz. Omer's unexpected arrival at the scene escalates into a dramatic confrontation, with him mocking Leyla for falling into a cliché romance.
This incident spills over into her professional life, where her uncle harbors the belief that she betrayed him with Seyyaz. However, this accusation is swiftly cast aside when Leyla is forcibly escorted to Cem's residence. She is compelled to trudge through the mud and dirt, her pristine white attire becoming soiled in the process. Upon her arrival, Cem's smirk is unmistakable as he mocks her, hinting that if she chooses to engage in such base tactics, he will certainly retaliate in kind.
