The Boys – Season 5 Episode 4 1

Frenchie reveals that it will take weeks to replicate the super-killing virus. Hughie, in a passive-aggressive manner, suggests taking the risk to search Fort Harmony for V1 in order to save Kimiko, Annie, and Butcher.

Meanwhile, Annie visits her father, Rick, who also abandoned his loved ones like she did. At his home, Annie learns that he is a cop and that his teenage son, Mason, thinks she is a terrorist.

Elsewhere, Sage tricks Soldier Boy into sabotaging Homelander by claiming that the father-son duo can become immortal together. Soldier Boy reluctantly agrees to help Homelander search for V1 at Fort Harmony. However, Soldier Boy clearly hates the idea.

Deep, who has been missing out on seafood while eating sushi, is interrupted by Noir, who warns him to watch his back for betraying him.

We learn that Oh-Father is aware of Ashley's powers and they bond through BDSM. Ashley becomes worried about his church going bankrupt and how it might affect her presidential campaign.

While brainstorming ideas for Homelander's marketing strategy, Firecracker realizes that they cannot sell Jesus' beliefs anymore. They decide to give Americans an American God who will make the country great again. Oh-Father agrees, as this could potentially save him from bankruptcy.

On their journey to the army hospital, the Boys encounter gruesome scenes of bodies and animals engaged in a deadly battle. As they proceed, Hughie's rants are punctuated by an unwelcome insult to Annie, catching Frenchie by surprise. The tension between Soldier Boy and Homelander escalates, and we learn that Soldier Boy, too, has slept with Clara, alias Stormfront.

Inside the hospital, the Boys continue their bickering, and Frenchie realizes that the V1 is infecting living beings with explosive anger, driving them to kill each other. Furthermore, his history with drugs makes him immune to its effects. Meanwhile, Rick confides to Annie that he avoids arresting Starlighters but cannot risk his family's safety. Their relationship strengthens when Rick reveals his pride in her and his regret for not fighting for her despite his love for her. Mason also begins to bond with Annie.

Soldier Boy hesitates at the hospital's entrance, and we see chains adorning the lab. The Boys notice that the last V1 sample has been stolen, with traces of heroin and superstrength suggesting that the thief is one of the original supes, Bombsight. Rick's co-worker, Ed, arrives after Mason's initial report and threatens to shoot Annie. Rick intervenes to protect his daughter, calming the situation and standing up for her. Ed agrees to give Annie an hour to leave, touched by her father's gesture.

In the hospital, MM and Butcher discuss their plans to destroy V1 as it is too risky to be used as a cure against the virus. This enrages Kimiko and Hughie, leading to a physical fight. Nearby, Homelander provokes Soldier Boy about his brother winning a medal, exposing his father's privileged background and his bought-and-paid-for entry into the V1 clinical trial. Soldier Boy does not react but tricks Homelander into a uranium cell that sickens supes. Finally, Soldier Boy reveals his hatred for Soldier Boy and his plan to destroy V1.

Butcher runs into Homelander and gloats. Homelander realizes he doesn't have the virus and promises to kill non-believers like Butcher once he becomes "God." Elsewhere, a three-way fight breaks out between Hughie, MM, and Kimiko, where Kimiko loses her voice.

Frenchie encounters Soldier Boy and lures him into a room housing a vine monster. It is one of the original patients, Quinn, and he happens to be the reason behind the rage toxin. Frenchie tricks Soldier Boy into killing Quinn, destroying the toxin in the process. Everyone regains their senses, and Soldier Boy cries, apologizing for killing his friend, Quinn.

Meanwhile, Mason apologizes to Annie before she departs, leaving a tender moment between them. Rick expresses his desire to reunite with Annie and urges her not to abandon her loved ones. Homelander, having escaped his cell, prepares to confront Soldier Boy. Surprised by the man's display of emotion, Homelander retreats, leaving a deeper layer of mystery behind.

Back at the base, Kimiko and Frenchie engage in a heartfelt conversation about their differing perspectives. Kimiko reveals her reluctance to be a part of Frenchie's chaotic world, prompting both of them to question the nature of their relationship.

Annie returns, apologizing to Hughie, who warmly welcomes her back. The Butcher and MM share an awkward moment over a drink as they watch footage of Vought's experiments on Soldier Boy and Quinn.

At the next service, Oh-Father introduces the divine rebranding. Ashley notices that Firecracker is not pleased with the replacement of Jesus with Homelander. Oh-Father renames the Samaritan's Embrace to the Democratic Church of America and uses his super scream to introduce Homelander as the Prophet of America. Homelander arrives, soaking in the cheers and adoration.
