The Crown – Season 6 Episode 3 1

The therapist, who has been keeping abreast of the media frenzy, informs Diana that Dodi's ex-fiancée has filed a lawsuit against him. The conversation then shifts to Diana's struggle with her drama addiction, which the therapist notes is being exacerbated by her current circumstances. Despite this, Diana vows to return to the UK as soon as feasible.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Al-Fayed, Dodi's father, presses his son on the phone to secure a union with Diana. He danglings the carrot of an equal share in the family business if Dodi can convince Diana to tie the knot. This serves as a catalyst for Dodi to intensify his efforts to persuade Diana to marry him.

Diana, intent on breaking the news to Dodi that she desires to return to the UK, finds herself swayed by Dodi's enticing proposal of a trip to Monte Carlo. Despite her apprehension about the paparazzi's relentless pursuit, Dodi coaxes her to embark on the adventure.

In Monte Carlo, Diana and Dodi are enjoying a leisurely ice cream outing when a few admirers recognize Diana, forcing them to seek refuge in a nearby jewelry store. As they await the commotion to subside, Dodi inquiries if there's any piece that captures Diana's heart. Diana's gaze lands on a ring inscribed with the French phrase "Dis-Moi Oui," and Dodi makes a hasty attempt to purchase it. However, the jeweler informs him that it's already been sold, though a similar one can be procured from a Parisian boutique.

Recently, Prince William's spirits have been languishing, and Princess Anne, back at their Balmoral abode in Scotland, has sensed the shift in his demeanor. She promptly proposed a long-awaited stag hunt as a remedy, sensing it might revive his spirits. During the hunt, William's aim was true, and he brought down a majestic stag. The encounter left him with a taste of blood and a renewed vigor.

Meanwhile, Diana and Dodi returned to their yacht. Diana confessed to Dodi that she had pressing work matters in the UK and must return immediately. She intended to travel economy, but Dodi insisted she take his private jet. However, he cautioned that he needed to consult his father first.

Upon contacting Mohammad Al-Fayed, Dodi explained Diana's work obligations and his intention to fly her to the UK. His father, eager to facilitate their relationship, urged Dodi to detour to Paris, where Diana's preferred engagement ring was available.

Subsequently, Dodi informed Diana of the change in plans, explaining that he had some business in Paris before escorting her to the UK. Diana expressed her longing to speak to her sons at a specific time, but Dodi assured her she would be able to do so in Paris.

Diana was dismayed by Mohammad Al-Fayed's constant meddling and phone calls, disrupting her precious moments with her sons. When they finally traveled to Paris, the paparazzi's relentless pursuit drove Diana to the verge of madness.

With Harry's birthday looming, Diana was spotted wrapping a gift for him. Later, she spoke fondly with her sons over the phone before dinner. William inquisitively asked if she intended to marry Dodi, having read the rumors in the newspapers. Diana reassured her sons that the rumors were unfounded and that she would not marry Dodi. She promised to be with them the following evening, and their joy in finally reuniting with their mother was palpable. Diana herself seemed equally elated by the prospect.

Under Mohammad Al-Fayed's relentless pressure, Dodi was compelled to propose to Diana without delay. He fiercely argued against the haste, citing Diana's current emotional fragility. But Mohammad Al-Fayed remained unyielding, insisting on the immediate fulfillment of the task.

Determined to propose later that evening, Dodi escorted Diana to the Ritz. Amidst the constant scrutiny of the crowd, Diana reached a breaking point, her composure shattering at the dinner table. Concerned, Dodi escorted her to a secluded room.

Inside, Dodi carefully removed the ring box, ready to propose. But Diana intervened gracefully, confessing that she wasn't quite ready to embark on marriage. She further revealed that Dodi's proposal seemed coerced by his father's demands. After a heartfelt discussion, they decided to spend the night at Dodi's, where Diana's belongings were already kept.

Dodi attempted to evade the photographers by sneaking out the back door with Diana. However, the paparazzi spotted them and relentlessly pursued their vehicle.

In the closing moments of the episode, the mysterious stranger from the season's premiere emerged, walking his dog. He chanced upon the vehicle carrying Diana and Dodi as they traversed a tunnel. Upon hearing a loud noise, he immediately called the police, leaving the audience on a suspenseful cliffhanger.
