The Dead Girls – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Fast forward to May 1960, and Blanca is at the zenith of her allure. She exudes confidence in her profession, standing head and shoulders above the rest. Clients clamor for her attention, with Mariano, in particular, appearing utterly smitten. Yet, beneath her glamorous exterior, Blanca harbors insecurities, notably about her crooked teeth. She takes a loan from Arcangela to invest in gold dental implants, a symbol of her desire to perfect her image. Her creativity shines through as she orchestrates a captivating cabaret show, and she finds herself entwined in a romantic web with two fellow performers, Evelia and Feliza.

However, Blanca's rising popularity comes with a price. She finds herself repeatedly pregnant, a situation the Baladro sisters detest. In December 1962, their usual abortion remedy proves ineffective. Blanca is already four months into her pregnancy when Serafina manages to secure the services of a dubious doctor. He cautions that it's too late for a safe procedure but reluctantly agrees when Arcangela, with a heavy heart, absolves him of his debts to the brothel.

True to the ominous foreshadowing, the operation goes awry, leaving Blanca's left side completely paralyzed. Arcangela, faced with no other choice, is compelled to hospitalize her, only to be met with a staggering medical bill that fuels her frustration. The nurses cast judgmental glances at Blanca, Mariano recoils in fear at her altered appearance, and the Baladro sisters, once her benefactors, seem to erase her from their memories.

This tragic turn of events marks the beginning of the end for the Baladro empire. A week later, Beto meets a violent demise, and their bar is forced to close its doors, a once-thriving hub now reduced to a haunting memory.

Once Skull and Blanca's girlfriends manage to sneak into the abandoned casino, they find Blanca's girlfriends checking in on her. But Blanca is beyond help now, and the mounting bills have reached exorbitant heights. Serafina, left with no choice, settles the debts and prepares to take Blanca home.

In December 1962, Arcangela finally emerges from the depths of grief over her son's loss, only to be incensed upon discovering the staggering sum they've squandered on Blanca's care. She even attempts to pry out Blanca's gold teeth, but the girl, in a fierce display of resistance, fights her off. Bedoya, exasperated, suggests casting Blanca out, and it is solely Serafina's compassion that spares Blanca from such a fate.

Desperate to find a cure, Skull seeks the aid of an indigenous healer, who proposes an unconventional method: ironing out the paralysis. Tragically, this bizarre remedy claims poor Blanca's life. To conceal the death, the sisters hastily bury her in a shallow grave in the casino's backyard, spreading the falsehood that she has been sent back to the hospital. The stench attracts vultures, and superstitious locals, including Bedoya, the girls, Ticho, and a neighbor, begin to question the eerie sightings.

The growing suspicions weigh heavily on the sisters' minds, prompting them to decide to cremate Blanca's corpse. Arcangela, ever the opportunist, attempts to seize Blanca's gold implants but is dismayed to find them already missing. Consumed by fury, she lashes out at the girls and resolves to sell them all, even if it means taking a loss. Serafina, her spirit broken, is persuaded by Bedoya to close down the brothel and make a living from the ranch instead.

As the sale proceeds, a shocking revelation unfolds: Blanca's girlfriends have stolen the implants and are now locked in a vicious struggle over who gets to keep them. In the ensuing chaos, they tumble off the landing and meet their untimely demise. The sisters, stunned by this turn of events, realize they must abort the sale of the girls, for they now possess knowledge of Blanca's death and might expose their dark secret.

At the conclusion of Episode 4 of "The Dead Girls," the two fallen girls are laid to rest in a deeper grave within the casino's backyard. Serafina, burdened by guilt, confesses her actions to Bedoya, and as if on cue, a vulture reappears, casting an ominous shadow over the scene.
