Elsewhere, Jack (Tom Mison), identifying himself as Emily's father, confesses to her untimely end at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. He confides in a fellow inmate about yearning to become the kind of father Emily would admire, mentioning Jen, his ex-wife, still regarded as the love of his life, albeit acknowledging she'd fare better without him. The conversation pivots to his current spouse, Tasha, for whom Jack harbors hopes of finding inner peace, wherever she may roam.

Tasha bonds with her daughter amidst these turbulent times, while Jen, accompanied by Hayley (Clare Foster), tries on a wedding gown in London, interrupted by a distressing call that leaves her visibly shaken. Hayley gently reminds Jen of Connor's presence in her life now, offering comfort amidst the unsettling news. Meanwhile, Tasha enjoys a beach outing with Lucy, their playful moments cut short by work commitments. Jen, on the phone with Sam, discusses Jack's potential appeal outcome, expressing concerns about Tasha's whereabouts, to which Sam replies with a stark reminder of Jack's psychopathic tendencies.

Tasha and Lucy embark on a hiding game, amidst Tasha's lingering suspicions of being followed. Her fears prove unfounded when she realizes the figure is not Jack. Upon Jack's release, he seeks solace with Hayley, perusing photos of Emily in solitude. Desperate to locate Tasha, Jack reaches out to Johnny for assistance.

In parallel, Tasha and Lucy find themselves at an opulent mansion, while Connor (Jake Fairbrother) reassures Jen of his unwavering commitment to her safety, initiating legal proceedings for a restraining order against Jack. Connor, while expressing empathy for Jack's loss, stands firm in his resolve to protect Jen.

Tasha takes up cleaning duties at another household, explaining her need to bring Lucy along. The scenario takes a turn when Leo (Andreas Teselepos) and his wife express preferences for child-free workers. Despite Tasha's plea, Leo offers her a small sum as a gesture of goodwill, which she respectfully declines, maintaining her dignity amidst adversity.

Jen discovers that Jack has sent her a bouquet of flowers, prompting Connor to believe he's overstepped his bounds. Jen implores Connor to refrain from taking any action. Hayley, on the other hand, pitches Jack the idea that Connor would be an ideal match for her. Jack responds by mentioning he's already got someone working on Tasha's case. Hayley counters, insisting Jack will never truly be free of Tasha until they divorce. Jack concedes that he can't pretend Emily never existed.

Just then, Connor arrives at the door, requesting a private conversation with Jack. Once alone, Connor unloads on Jack about Jen's revelation regarding the crash and the moment she realized Jack had the capacity for murder. She finally found peace until those flowers arrived from Jack. Connor demands to know why he sent them, insisting Jen will never return to him. He threatens to have Jack sent back to prison if he contacts her again. Jack, somewhat ironically, thanks Connor for keeping an eye on her for him. Jen interrupts the tense exchange, prompting Connor to label Jack a freak before storming out. Jack reveals that Jen still dreams about him.

Tasha, struggling to make ends meet, pays half of her rent and promises the rest, hinting at an impending payment. As she checks her messages from Sam, she learns that Jack is out. When she calls him later, Sam asserts that Jack isn't coming after her. He offers financial assistance, but Tasha declines sharing her location. She doubts they could rekindle their relationship now. Sam admits Jen is shaken but insists she's doing okay. He asks Tasha to relay a message to Lucy, who he considers his daughter after two years of parenting her, and requests her number in case he hears anything.

Connor returns home and apologizes to Jen for his odd behavior over the flowers. He concedes it's best to just ignore Jack. Tasha calls Jan, anxious to know if she's seen Jack and eager to ensure he doesn't learn about Emily. Jen reassures her that she's not in contact with Jack and doesn't plan to be.

Meanwhile, Jack confronts Sam at his workplace in the dead of night. Jack vows to do right by Tasha. Sam replies that she wants nothing from him. Jack insists she wants a divorce and offers her half of everything, vowing never to see her again. Jack confesses he would prefer to have died in the crash instead of Emily. He adds that Tasha can't run from what happened forever. Sam advises leaving her alone, but Jack insists he'll only do so once they've settled things. Sam refuses to give Jack any means to contact her and urges him to leave immediately. Upon Jack's departure, Sam quickly messages Tasha to warn her that Jack is looking for her. Tasha frantically packs her belongings, telling Lucy it's going to be an adventure. They rush to the car, trying to avoid their landlord, who threatens to call the police on Tasha when he spots her.

While Jen is shopping with Connor, she spots Jack nearby. He silences her with a gesture, watching them from afar as they leave. Tasha returns to Leo's place, claiming her daughter left something behind. Leo lets her in, and while there, she steals a considerable amount of Leo's money. Tasha flees shortly after. It seems Tasha intends to sneak onto a boat to escape. She successfully passes the passport check, but her vehicle is flagged for inspection. Lucy is ready to come out, prompting Tasha to abruptly turn back and flee.

Jen calls Connor, making an excuse for her tardiness. Moments later, she encounters Jack, who immediately kisses her.
