Episode 2 of Season 2 of "The Fiery Priest" kicks off with Father Michael, alias Kim Hae-il, stealthily leaving a note for the Gudam crew, cautioning them against trailing him to Busan, a city shrouded in peril. Detective Gu Dae-young, undeterred by Hae-il's disappearance, vows to track him down relentlessly.
In Busan, Hae-il crosses paths with Vladimir Gozhaev, now going by the moniker Ko Dok-seong, who has transformed into a ruthless loan shark. Entrusting him with the mission to locate Fire Eel, Hae-il's next move sets the stage for an intriguing turn of events. When Gu phones to inquire about Hae-il's whereabouts, Gozhaev attempts to deceive him with a pathetically transparent lie, which Gu effortlessly sees through.
Elsewhere, Prosecutor Du-heon convenes with the Busan underworld dealers, among whom Fire Eel is revealed to be lurking. An unyielding figure, Du-heon maintains an impeccable record of refusing bribes, demanding absolute loyalty from the gang in return. He further instructs the gang leader, Boss Park, to compile a list of Busan celebrities involved in drug use, intending to use them as pawns in his game.
Turning our focus to Hae-il, he makes an appearance at the Busan School of Theology for a seminar. The dean, Dominic Lee Ung-seok, is a stern disciplinarian who firmly believes in keeping the church sacrosanct from the profane world. During his maiden seminar, Hae-il boldly urges the students to harness their anger as a catalyst for societal change, earning a scoff from pre-ordained student Chae Do-u, who finds his teachings absurd.
In Los Angeles, Prosecutor Park Kyung-sun is liberated from her constraints, thanks to the local bellator who stands as her vouchsafe. He reveals that Hae-il himself became a bellator four years ago, and individuals like Kyung-sun are 'comes,' guardians who shield bellators. Hae-il checks in with her, unveiling their cleverly laid trap aimed at ensnaring the elusive drug dealer.
Regarding the notorious SEA supplier, Kim Hong-sik, he is currently en route back to South Korea via air. Amidst his journey, he causes a commotion over a craving for Korean paste, generously compensating a fellow passenger who obligingly offers him some.
As for Hae-il, we come to know that he suffers from a debilitating yet non-fatal brain condition. His physician is adamant that he must avoid any further head trauma. Before Hae-il can delve into the drug case, Dean Lee assigns him the task of minding Chae Do-u, a notoriously short-fused individual.
Hae-il discovers Chae at a police station, where Chae, masquerading as a priest, has beaten up some bullies. Hae-il apologizes profusely to everyone around, creating quite a spectacle. However, with a phone call from the Cardinal's office, Chae is released from custody. Ironically, Hae-il scolds Chae for losing his composure and engaging in violence.
Elsewhere, Heidi, the girlfriend of an informant dealer, eagerly anticipates a meeting with Fire Eel. However, the meeting is postponed, leaving her frustrated. Meanwhile, Hong-sik enjoys a meal at a Busan street stall when Boss Park and his men arrive in grand fashion to greet him. Subsequently, he encounters corrupt policemen who attempt to intimidate him and hike their cut from 8% to 20%. In response, Hong-sik dispatches one of them and declares himself the one in charge from now on.
The following morning, Dean Lee was scandalized to discover that Hae-il's subsequent seminar incorporated music amidst his Taekwondo lessons. Meanwhile, back in Gudam, Detective Gu cleverly pretended to be possessed in order to secure a month's leave. Without hesitation, he dashed off to Busan, much to the annoyance of his fellow Gudam colleagues.
Switching to the enigma of Fire Eel, Gozhaev tracked down the dealer's associate, Ko Dong-geun, who was revealed to be a pimp. As per usual, Hae-il brutalized Dong-geun and subjected him to ice torture until the latter arranged a meeting with Fire Eel. Having illegally accessed Gozhaev's phone, Gu made an unexpected appearance, and Hae-il inadvertently knocked him unconscious with an ice pack. A squabble ensued as Gu steadfastly refused to return home. In defeat, Hae-il, Gu, and Gozhaev ventured towards Fire Eel's lair.
Just as Heidi's boyfriend attempted to persuade Fire Eel to meet with her, Hae-il and Gu made their entrance. They subdued the gang but soon found themselves exhausted, lazily continuing to slap Fire Eel. However, before he could divulge any information, Heidi arrived on the scene. To everyone's surprise, she was an undercover police officer and arrested everyone, including Hae-il and Detective Gu.
The first epilogue of The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 2 portrayed Hong-sik instructing Boss Park to cease distributing hepanyl and instead focus on luxury goods. The second epilogue depicted Chae assisting a deaf family and later joining them for dinner. The thugs mocked them, prompting Chae to administer a well-deserved beating.
