Episode 8 of Season 2 of "The Fiery Priest" kicks off with an intense confrontation between Hae-il and Hong-sik. As the clash unfolds, the Sweeper Gang, driven by their desire to shield Hae-il, attempts to intervene in the thugs' rush towards the church on the ship. In the meantime, Father Han reaches out to Kyung-sun, who is deeply concerned about Hae-il's ill health.
Amidst the fray, Hae-il starts to feel dizzy, giving Hong-sik an opportunity to strike. Just as Hong-sik is about to deliver a devastating blow, Kyung-sun's call interrupts, and she agrees to a date, much to Hae-il's relief. This fortunate distraction allows the masked woman, revealed to be Chief Go Martha, to swiftly summon the SWAT team and apprehend Hong-sik for assault. Martha, who has been covertly investigating Hong-sik, admits that her motive behind the arrest was solely to safeguard Hae-il. She is acutely aware that Hong-sik will soon be released, and her own life might be in danger for targeting him. Despite Hae-il's plea for her to join their side, she hastily retreats.
Her instincts prove correct as Hong-sik is swiftly freed, vowing to leave Hae-il in peace only if the priest ceases his pursuit. News of Hong-sik's release reaches the Sweeper Gang, causing them to halt their mischievous antics. However, their worry prompts them to venture into town, using Mak-san's longing for his mother as a pretext. Rockfish, remaining skeptical, assigns Capelin to trail them. Unawareness prevails as Sister Kim and Gozhaev cleverly disguise themselves as Mak-san's mother and grandmother, respectively, fooling Capelin.
Elsewhere, Hae-il receives shocking information from his bookstore friend, Seok-hui, which he promptly shares with Kyung-sun. Hong-sik's ruthless tactics include blowing up his ships and murdering workers with gas tanks whenever a territory becomes obsolete or his identity is compromised. They suspect he refrained from killing at the benefit event because he still had unfinished business. Hae-il's recent fatigue persists, and Kyung-sun insists it's due to the haunting presence of a ghost.
Back at the church, Sister Kim and Father Han endeavor to inform the Uma clerics about Hong-sik's true nature. However, Hong-sik arrives and cleverly deflects their accusations as mere rumors spread by his adversaries. Chae, who knows the truth, initiates an anti-drug watch squad with the help of some apostles, determined to counter Hong-sik's malevolent influence.
Returning to the scene of the "family reunion," the Sweeper Gang is enlightened about Hong-sik's tactics, and Yo-han is entrusted with the challenging task of locating the bomb, leveraging his unique ability to hear high-pitched frequencies. Meanwhile, Jellyfish attempts to abduct Martha, but Hae-il swiftly intervenes to rescue her. Despite his brave act, Marthapleads with him to stay out of it and subsequently disappears into hiding.
The narrative shifts to Kyung-sun and Hong-sik's romantic rendezvous. Hong-sik finds himself deeply captivated by her, while she attempts, albeit awkwardly, to reciprocate his affections with flirtatious gestures. She is taken aback by his bashful demeanor when he presents her with a gift. Later, at her workplace, she unwraps it to reveal a stunning diamond necklace of immense size. Intrigued, she takes it to a jeweler for an appraisal, who offers to purchase it for an astonishing 5 million won. However, this unexpected valuation provides Kyung-sun with a convenient pretext to reject the gift and sever ties with Hong-sik, feigning offense at its grandeur.
Elsewhere, Hae-il finds his thoughts wandering to Father Lee and the mysteries of the afterlife. Suddenly, a ghost materializes, spinning coins into the shape of a cross, causing Hae-il to faint in astonishment. The following morning, Chae fills Hae-il in on his watch squad duties, later orchestrating a commotion that greatly irritates Du-heon. Du-heon vents his frustration to Hong-sik, who finds the whole situation amusing. The prosecutor's frustration deepens as his scapegoat, Oh Jin-yeong, refuses to cooperate. In response, he tasks Kyung-sun with convincing the idol's agency to comply.
As the Sweeper Gang ponders over the mystery of locating the bomb, their path crosses with Hong-sik, who offers them employment. Boss Park, ever the skeptic, is taken aback by this sudden display of trust in a stranger. Hong-sik further delves into Ja-yeong's future, prompting her to reveal that her benefactor hails from the South. In a bold move, he dispatches a contingent of his henchmen to disperse Chae's watch squad, rendering the ship defenseless.
Yo-han guides the Sweeper Gang towards a door marked with restricted access, but their progress is halted abruptly. Boss Park, already aware of their true identities, mocks them from afar.
Elsewhere, Kyung-sun makes a daring attempt to infiltrate the Go House, taking advantage of Du-heon's absence at the headquarters. Just as she's about to break the lock, Ma-ri confronts her unexpectedly. Meanwhile, Hong-sik catches wind of Seok-hui's investigation into his affairs and incapacitates her with a swift blow.
Hae-il finds himself trailing a gecko, which leads him to an abandoned gas station. His curiosity is interrupted by a call from Chae, informing him of the thugs' assault on the seminary. In a climactic rush, Hae-il speeds back to the church, where he engages the attackers who have harmed the students. Jellyfish strikes him on the head, yet Hae-il persists in his assault, fueled by an unyielding rage. The thugs, intimidated by his ferocity, flee the scene. However, Hae-il's head wounds begin to bleed profusely, and he collapses, leaving Dean Lee, Father Han, and Chae staring in disbelief at the scene's harrowing conclusion in The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 8.
