Episode 7 of Season 2 of "The Fiery Priest" kicks off with a chilling scene: Chief Prosecutor Park is murdered and then subjected to the grim fate of being frozen. The dark specter of corruption resurfaces as Captain Lee and his cronies resume their extortion racket, demanding tribute with impunity.
In this tumultuous backdrop, Du-heon assigns the visibly shaken Kyung-sun to keep tabs on Park Jun-hyeok, a drug-addled individual whose influential father, Vice Minister Park, holds sway over many. The objective? To wield control over the Vice Minister through his troubled son.
Meanwhile, at the church, Hong-sik employs a drone to witness the harrowing spectacle of a burning statue. Deliberately revealing his presence, he provokes Hae-il into chasing after the drone. The operator, mocking Hae-il's efforts, speeds away, leaving a trail of frustration and anger.
In the confines of jail, Jun-hyeok attempts to project an aura of bravado, but Kyung-sun quickly dispels it with a terrifying demeanor, forcing him to call his father. Oh Jin-yeong, Jun-hyeok's innocent idol friend, finds himself unwittingly ensnared in Du-heon's machinations as a pawn to curry favor with VM Park.
As for Operation Doppelganger, we uncover that Gu's doppelgänger is a criminal named Mak-san. His enigmatic girlfriend, Yuk Du-ja, a shaman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Ja-yeong, completes the picture. Dubbing themselves the "Sweeper Gang," they spread rumors of a sinister plot to eliminate Hae-il.
Elsewhere, the Uma police officers stage a farcical investigation into the burning of the Virgin Mary statue, conveniently pinning the blame on Hae-il. Frustrated beyond measure, Hae-il and Chae Do-u unveil the existence of the drug cartel to Dean Lee. However, the dean, citing his duty to steer clear of vengeance, urges them to abandon their quest and leave the seminary.
Hae-il, unyielding, reminds Dean Lee of their pact: in exchange for Dean Lee's indulgence towards his antics and Chae's continued enrollment, Hae-il guarantees full attendance at mass and triples the seminary's participant count for the coming year. Chae, jaded by the seemingly futile endeavor, and Dean Lee, regretful of his earlier agreement, voice their doubts. But Hae-il stands firm, refusing to budge.
He also equips Kyung-sun with a tracker, which she subtly attaches to Du-heon, subsequently trailing him to the Go House. Unbeknownst to her, she is being watched. Inside the house, Du-heon meticulously documents his evidence aimed at manipulating politicians. Additionally, he uncovers Hae-il's military background. He dispatches Reporter Ki to cover the incident of the burning statue as a case of spontaneous combustion, but Dean Lee swiftly dismisses him.
The Sweeper Gang's infamous reputation precedes them onto the ship, prompting a meeting. Hong-sik remains cautious, yet Boss Park takes the initiative to ascertain their authenticity. The thugs are initially skeptical of the Sweeper Gang, but Capelin, recognizing Mak-san, vouches for their credibility.
During Sunday Mass, Hong-sik's mocking laughter irritates Hae-il, though the priest maintains composure. He faces another dilemma when he spots Kyung-sun dressed as a nun. She claims it's to visit Sister Kim and Father Han, but in reality, she seeks an exorcism. Hae-il indulges her request, yet fails to detect the ghost in her apartment. However, Kyung-sun freaks out as the ghost climbs onto Hae-il and departs with him.
Hong-sik attempts to invite Kyung-sun to another meteor shower, but she declines, citing it as bad luck. Meanwhile, the Sweeper Gang is accommodated on the ship. They are restrained from harming Hae-il due to Hong-sik's orders. Rockfish almost recognizes Gu, whose "birthmark" is fading, but Hae-il has a backup plan. He deliberately lets Laotian thugs catch him having lunch with Gu's uncle, who is his doppelgänger, fooling them into believing they've found "Mak-san."
The Sweeper Gang finds their thug disguises exhausting and communicates with Hae-il through a microphone hidden in Gu's underwear. Gu's bruised birthmark is also fading, prompting Songsak to punch him to darken it again.
The Sweeper Gang remains shrouded in mystery, as Capelin finds Mak-san's forgetfulness suspiciously convenient, conjuring a tale of him accidentally bumping into a statue. Du-heon, desperate for a resolution, dials Hae-il and attempts to broker peace by counseling retreat. Hae-il stands firm, prompting Du-heon to issue a grim warning of church bloodshed, which the priest brushes off unperturbed. Undeterred, Hae-il dives deeper into the enigma of the lizard tattoo but hits a dead end. That night, haunted by restlessness, he finds the ghost perched menacingly on his abdomen.
Elsewhere, Du-heon alerts Kyung-sun to the impending conflict, suggesting they play the role of spectators. News of Chief Prosecutor Park's untimely demise sends shockwaves through the community, particularly stunning Ma-ri. Meanwhile, Hae-il seeks clarification on the tattoo from a confidant, uncovering the notorious Laos drug cartel, Saban. Following General Bak Lak's demise, his trusted lieutenant, Phukha, and their lethal assassins, known as the geckos, vanished into thin air. Sharing insights with Kyung-sun, they deduce that Du-heon has allied with Phukha and orchestrated Park's murder to silence his probing into the truth.
On the ship, Jellyfish badgers Ja-yeong for a prophecy, prompting her to insist on meeting his boss for an accurate reading. He unveils a picture of Hong-sik, stunning the gang. At the church, elaborate preparations for Hong-sik's charity event unfold, with the masked lady lurking in the shadows, her piercing gaze fixed on Hae-il and Hong-sik. On the eve of the event, the Sweeper Gang reveals to Hae-il that Hong-sik is the elusive drug lord they've been tracking. Infuriated, Hae-il alerts Father Han and Sister Kim, orchestrating a makeshift evacuation under the guise of an impending storm.
As The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 7 concludes, Hae-il's sinister smile gives Hong-sik a glimpse of his impending exposure. They bolt towards each other, fists clenched and ready for a confrontation.
