Subaru then reveals to her friend that she's had a conversation with Tsumugi, much to Kaoruko's surprise. She even confesses to having tried to persuade him to keep his distance from them. Yet, it's Kaoruko who offers an apology. Understanding Subaru's worries and the kindness behind her actions, Kaoruko flashes a grateful smile and thanks her for her efforts.

This only serves to break Subaru's heart further. Relief washes over her that Kaoruko doesn't hold her responsible, but this relief is tinged with a deeper sense of guilt. Overwhelmed, she bursts into a fresh wave of tears, repeating her apologies. But Kaoruko, with a radiant smile, extends an invitation to play as they used to when they were children.

As Kaoruko swings from the monkey bars, she's transported back to that fateful day she fell. Despite the pain, she remembers Subaru's heartfelt wish to take all the hurt upon herself. The sincerity of Subaru's concern left Kaoruko momentarily forgetting her pain, replaced instead by a warmth from knowing how deeply her friend cared.

From their earliest days, Subaru has been Kaoruko's constant companion. Embracing the silver-haired girl, Subaru pleads with her not to reject the version of herself that Kaoruko cherishes—a person of kindness and strength. Kaoruko vows to keep expressing her love for Subaru wholeheartedly until the day Subaru no longer sees herself as a burden.

At last, Subaru grasps what she must do. Though she's not yet able to view herself through Kaoruko's loving eyes, she acknowledges her deep love for Kaoruko and the importance of heeding her desires. She inquires if Kaoruko wishes to continue seeing her, to which Kaoruko responds with a resounding and heartfelt "yes." Subaru then poses the question of whether Kaoruko likes her, receiving an obvious and emotionally charged affirmation in return.

Kaoruko has always placed her trust in Subaru, and from this moment onward, Subaru resolves to do the same for Kaoruko. More than that, she believes that one day she'll come to love herself as profoundly as her friend does.

As they make their way back home, Kaoruko's phone buzzes with a message from Rintarou, stating that he urgently needs to have a conversation with her. Almost instantaneously, she dials his number, and after gathering his resolve, Rintarou confesses that his true intention is to speak with Subaru. To his astonishment, it is the silver-haired girl herself who answers the call. When he mentions it's regarding their prior discussion at the coffee shop, she readily agrees to a second meeting.

The following day, Tsumugi approaches Subaru, seeking advice on how he can continue to spend time with Kaoruko without stirring up further discord. Aware of the potential tensions arising from the rivalry between their schools, Tsumugi is determined to sidestep any additional conflict. Recognizing Subaru's deep affection and concern for Kaoruko, he feels compelled to seek her perspective on the matter as well.

Hearing this, Subaru is struck by the depth of Rintarou's selflessness, even at his own cost. With a chuckle and a hint of self-reproach, she admits, "I was such a fool." She reassures him that everything will work out fine if they arrange to meet at a location far removed from the prying eyes of their respective schools, much to Rintarou's relief.

Just then, a stray ball comes crashing into Rintarou, causing him to stumble and fall. The boy they had previously assisted at the coffee shop rushes over, apologizing profusely for the accidental collision. Before departing, he remarks with admiration at seeing them together again, assuming they must be great friends. Though they internally dismiss the notion, Subaru, with a gentle smile, expresses her desire to one day become Rintarou's true friend, bringing the episode to a heartwarming and sweet conclusion.
