The Frog – Season 1 Episode 7 1

Just as the air thickens with anticipation, Jae-sik, Sung-a's estranged partner, emerges from the shadows, springing into her vehicle unannounced, sending her into a state of disarray. His recent release from prison has left him bitter and vengeful, and he wastes no time in confronting Sung-a, his accusations like daggers. He accuses her of unleashing her fury on Si-hyeon, the innocent child she's nurtured as her own since his birth mother abandoned him. Jae-sik's mind is set in stone; he's convinced Sung-a is responsible for their son's untimely demise.

The truth unfolds slowly—Sung-a, playing the role of a devoted mother, has kept Si-hyeon's tragic backstory hidden from all. She feigns ignorance, her voice steady despite the storm raging within, insisting she knows nothing of his fate. But as Jae-sik's rage boils over into violence, Sung-a's resolve falters. In a desperate bid for escape, she hurls a fire extinguisher through a nearby car window, the loud crash echoing through the parking lot as she flees, locking herself away in the gallery's sanctuary.

Jae-sik's blow lands with brutal force, sending Sung-a crashing to the ground, unconscious, as horrified bystanders bear witness to the violence. Jae-sik flees the scene, leaving Sung-a lying prone, her lip split open in a gruesome testament to the confrontation. Yet, undeterred, Sung-a rises, her determination unwavering. She pilots a white van straight into the heart of the gallery's exhibition, creating a spectacle that would leave even the most seasoned artist breathless.

Unfazed by the chaos she's unleashed, Sung-a confronts Dr. Yoo, her voice laced with urgency, demanding that he detain Jae-sik for a few crucial days. With that, she disappears into the night, her bruised lip a silent testament to the battles fought and won, as she makes her way home, her mind racing with thoughts of justice and redemption.

Sung-a, her shirt stained with blood, wildly tosses it onto the overhead lights, a gesture that doesn't escape Gyeong-nam's keen eye as he scrutinizes the CCTV footage. Unfazed, Sung-a continues to wreak havoc at the Rental Motel, her presence grating on Yong-chae's nerves. He offers her money to leave, but she spurns his offer, knowing full well that Yeong-ha has already agreed to pay her off. Yong-chae's disbelief and subsequent antagonism only fuel Sung-a's rage, culminating in a violent confrontation where she stabs him in the back and mercilessly beats him with his own crutches.

In a fit of madness, Sung-a storms into a supermarket, her trolley overflowing with bleach, barbecue charcoal, and other ominous supplies. To her surprise, Bo-min is also there, silently observing as Sung-a piles up her deadly cargo, the bleach particularly catching her eye.

As Bo-min trails Sung-a outside, Gyeong-nam's call interrupts, claiming he has crucial information to share. Meanwhile, Ui-seon receives a distressing message about her father's condition, unaware that Yong-chae lies bound and bloodied in the basement, gagged and helpless.

Sung-a reappears, inviting Ui-seon in for a drink, weaving a web of deceit around her. She falsely claims complicity with Yeong-ha in Si-hyeon's murder, painting Yeong-ha as the one who cleaned up the mess. But Ui-seon is no fool, and she swiftly turns the tables on Sung-a, incapacitating her before rushing to Yong-chae's rescue.

However, Sung-a's fury knows no bounds, and the two women engage in a fierce battle amidst the vinyl-strewn basement. The confrontation ends tragically, with Sung-a choking Ui-seon to death. The scene shifts to Sung-a, dragging a red suitcase, the ominous implication that Ui-seon's lifeless body lies within.

This grim sequence ties neatly into the climax of the previous episode, where Sung-a, drenched in blood from her encounters with Yong-chae and Ui-seon, taunts Yeong-ha into confronting her. He arrives, rifle in hand, his heart consumed by vengeance. The two face off by the pool, Yeong-ha revealing that he had intended to sell the rental to Sung-a until her descent into madness forced his hand.

As for Sung-a, she vehemently defends her actions, insisting that the Motel is where she thrives creatively, a sentiment that partly fuels her desire to acquire the property. She extends a lifeline to Yeong-ha, offering him a narrow window of thirty minutes to rescue his friend from peril.

Yeong-ha's heart races as he discovers Yong-chae, battered and bruised, and he rushes him to the hospital without delay. Amidst the chaos of Yong-chae's treatment, Gyeong-nam, the laundry attendant who had earlier spotted Sung-a on CCTV, confronts Yeong-ha outside, seeking answers. But Yeong-ha, his mind set on a singular goal, shoves aside the inquisitive man and speeds back to the fray.

Meanwhile, Sung-a, observing Yeong-ha's return with a vengeance, realizes he's armed and dangerous. She tempts him with a sanctuary at the Motel, dangling the prospect of tickets out of the country and a promise to keep Ui-seon safe—all contingent on his silence about the attacks. She warns him of dire consequences should he fail, painting a grim picture of Ui-seon's fate and his own torment.

Yeong-ha, torn between his conscience and the weight of his knowledge, receives a call from Captain Bo-min, which he briefly considers before ignoring. He's convinced that by keeping Ui-seon and Yong-chae ignorant, Sung-a can slip away undetected. However, Sung-a enlists his aid in a sinister task: burying a mysterious "something" in the Motel's vegetable patch. Reluctantly, he agrees, but insists on seeing Ui-seon first.

As they approach the dock, the red suitcase sits ominously on its brink, yet it's devoid of its former contents. Yeong-ha's trap is sprung as Bo-min arrives with the police, surrounding Sung-a. The truth unfolds—Gyeong-nam, fueled by CCTV evidence, had been the one to expose her. Sung-a is apprehended for assault and kidnapping, her fate sealed.

Yeong-ha's heart sinks as he rushes to Ui-seon's side in the hospital. Her condition is dire, with abdominal bleeding and the possibility of a necessary abortion looming. The revelation that she was pregnant during this ordeal adds another layer of heartache to their ordeal.

Overwhelmed with guilt, Yeong-ha breaks down, blaming himself for Ui-seon's suffering and his own silence. Bo-min, a pillar of support, reminds him that he's a victim too and did what he could. Amidst tears, it seems as though the nightmare might finally be drawing to a close... but the lingering question of who retrieved the rifle from the Motel basement hints at an unresolved chapter yet to unfold.
