Episode 6 of "The Haunted Palace" kicks off with Yeo-ri's astonishment as she realizes that Gangcheori's powers are insufficient to banish the towering, eight-foot ghost into the afterlife. In a spontaneous act of ingenuity, they resort to using the King's ghostbane stone, causing the apparition to vanish into thin air. Outside, Guard Seo spots the shaman's assistant but fails to apprehend him as he slips away.
In the vicinity, a senior court lady, swayed by bribery, confirms that the Queen is carrying a child, a secret she has kept from all. This revelation stirs the Queen Mother's discontent, who finds it unjust that her deceased son's legacy is marred by this development. Seeking vengeance, she summons Pung-san, the blind shaman—whom she knows is a snake in disguise.
As the King and Yeo-ri debrief, Yeo-ri discovers that the ghostbane stone belonging to the King was once owned by Neop-deok, a close confidant of his grandmother. Although skeptical of its mystical powers in the past, the King held a deep appreciation for Neop-deok's abilities and the compassion she exhibited. Meanwhile, Gangcheori is frustrated to learn of his dwindling strength and incomplete recovery.
Pung-san arrives at the Queen Mother's palace, having overheard whispers of a newly hired optician. He attempts to manipulate the Queen Mother into revealing the optician's whereabouts, but despite seeing through his charade, she inadvertently lets slip that the Queen is expecting. This revelation is enough for Pung-san to devise a new, sinister plan: sacrificing the unborn child to empower the eight-foot ghost. His encounter with Yeo-ri later reveals her true identity as a rival shaman.
On his way home, Gangcheori succumbs to self-pity, even offering to release Yeo-ri from her duties. But Yeo-ri, undeterred by their recent setback, acknowledges that despite finding him annoying, Gangcheori has been protective of her. They share a fleeting smile before sensing the presence of another Imugi at a courtesan's abode.
Inside the structure, Kwak and his companions have converged, their whispers intermingling with tales of phantoms, though Kwak remains a skeptic amidst the ghostly gossip. Their conversation is abruptly interrupted by Gangcheori, and Kwak's offense at the latter's audacity prompts him to lunge at the Imugi. However, Gangcheori merely employs his wind prowess to expel Kwak from the city's confines. When Yeo-ri learns of Kwak's identity as Yoon Gap's killer, her rebuke swiftly transforms into accolades. Meanwhile, as the other ministers embark on a search for Kwak, a new Imugi emerges to consume one of them – a creature who is none other than Bibi, Gangcheori's younger sibling. Bibi stands poised on the brink of ascension, requiring only the consumption of twelve more souls.
Their reunion unfolds in a comedy of errors, with Bibi mocking Gangcheori for his human form's limitations. Gangcheori offers a straightforward solution – by terminating Yoon Gap's body, he can liberate himself. Yeo-ri intervenes in their plan, reminding Gangcheori of his solemn vow. But once she departs, Gangcheori confesses to Bibi that his promise was a mere fabrication. His true intent is to win Yeo-ri's heart before slaying Yoon Gap and possessing her body.
As dawn breaks, Gangcheori shares a tender moment with Yeo-ri, pondering over his feelings for her with Bibi. He wonders whether his desire for her stems from a predator's instinct as an Imugi or something deeper. In the meantime, In-seon arrives, attempting to return the carangan plant as a pretext. Gangcheori, recalling Bibi's advice to test his attraction towards others, touches In-seon's lips but feels nothing, dismissing her. His attention is then drawn to Yeo-ri, struggling with her bag, which he promptly seizes. This gesture finally dawns on him – he harbors genuine affection for Yeo-ri. It seems he has abandoned the notion of killing Yoon Gap's body or sacrificing himself to vanquish the eight-foot specter, opting instead to stay by Yeo-ri's side for as long as fate allows.
In an unexpected twist, In-seon finds herself even more drawn to "Yoon Gap" now that he embodies an aura of detachment and wildness. While lost in her reverie, she catches a glimpse of her father, Choi Won-u, mingling with a group of ruffians.
At the palace, the Queen extends an invitation to Yeo-ri for tea, but beneath her composed exterior, she is in considerable discomfort. Yeo-ri experiences a vivid vision, witnessing the Queen tormented by nightmares of a drowned male ghost assaulting her. In the dreamscape, the ghost expels a jet of black water upon her, leaving an indelible mark of fear.
Outside, Gangcheori looms as a constant presence, and Kwak finally returns to confront the Imugi. However, their confrontation is abruptly halted by the King's intervention. After dismissing Kwak, the King and Gangcheori engage in a bitter spat about maintaining the royal family's尊严. The revelation that the person inhabiting Yoon Gap's body is the feared and mythical menace, Gangcheori, stuns everyone. Ironically, the King bursts into laughter upon learning that Gangcheori had tossed Kwak into a whirlwind.
Back indoors, Yeo-ri searches meticulously through the Queen's chamber and discovers a skull concealed within a pillow. The senior court lady then confides in Yeo-ri about the Queen's pregnancy, piecing together the puzzle. Yeo-ri unearths another talisman and realizes with a shock that the unborn child has become the new focus of malevolent forces. Enraged, the King issues an order for the arrest of every court lady.
In his cave, Pung-san smiles ominously as Yeo-ri embarks on a quest to locate the drowned male ghost. She and Gangcheori trail it to the riverbank, where it unleashes its fury. Gangcheori strives valiantly but is overwhelmed by weakness. As The Haunted Palace Episode 6 concludes, Gangcheori gazes in sheer terror as the ghost sprays Yeo-ri with black water, mirroring the Queen's nightmare and foreshadowing an ominous future.
