In the seventh episode of The Iris Affair, Cameron, Meski, and Joy find themselves in possession of the diary after Joy's betrayal of Iris. Cameron sends a picture of the pages, which appears to be the activation code, to Hugo Pym. He tasks his team with reviving Charlie, but they encounter a hurdle—deciphering the top-level code, which is estimated to take days or weeks. This is not a suitable timeline for Hugo Pym, who decides to take matters into his own hands. He forces Jensen to work on the machine, or so he thinks. When Jensen refuses, Pym tosses him into the water, seemingly to let him drown. However, Pym checks his watch and brings Jensen back from the brink, restarting his heart. Jensen coughs up water, lying afraid and shocked. Pym promises that this will be his daily reality unless he complies.

Meanwhile, Iris decides it's time for Alfie to take the reins with his podcast. After Joy's betrayal, she feels she has failed and is no longer going to try and stop these super dangerous government agents. In fact, Iris is washing her hands of this whole affair and is psyched up Alfie to take over where she's stepping down. She rings Cameron and pleads with him to destroy Charlie so nobody can use it. She threatens him too, promising that "Alfie and Nico can burn".
However, Nico has overheard everything and holds Iris at gunpoint, not trusting that Iris won't just drop them in an instant or use them for her own gain. Given what we've seen over the season, this is not surprising. Nico wants to move Alfie's laptop to Interpol, but he is too fixated on revealing the truth to the world. However, Bruni and his men are closing in. Realizing they need help, Iris beats down Nico and is prepared to leave her behind. Thankfully, Alfie helps her up, but it doesn't take long for a shootout to ensue.
As the story unfolded, Iris, with a heart filled with remorse, apologized for dragging Alfie into this dangerous venture. However, Alfie was full of newfound energy and conviction, believing that this was the right path to follow. He even lent a helping hand in giving her a motivational talk, urging them to initiate a live stream at that very moment. With determination in his eyes, he set up the livestream. But fate had other plans; as soon as he started speaking out against the corrupt cops, a bullet struck him, ending his life in an instant.
Iris fought bravely against Bruni, who chose not to resort to his weapon but faced her in a physical duel. The struggle reached its climax when Iris emerged victorious, her gun finally finding its mark on Bruni. But Bruni's accomplices, oblivious to the ongoing livestream, swiftly grabbed Iris and made their escape.
In a heart-stopping moment, Nico saved Iris from being executed, gunning down all the officers with lightning speed. Iris, now in Nico's presence, handed over Alfie's laptop and made a decision that would see this conflict resolved once and for all. She dialed Cameron's number, informing him of her impending arrival, unaware that Hugo Pym, now in possession of the diary and his phone after Cameron's arrival, had managed to activate the machine and bypass the encryption. Charlie was awakened from his slumber.
The scene was electric with tension and drama, each action and reaction adding layers to the already intricate plot.
