The second installment of "The Lady's Companion" kicks off with another enlightening session from Elena, delving into the subtle art of using a fan as a means for these ladies to convey their desires, be it a stern "I hate you" or a tender "I love you." However, such refined tactics are swiftly sidelined when a whirlwind of passion leads to an unplanned pregnancy, a situation Elena now finds herself grappling with. Meanwhile, Cristina vents her frustration on an assemblage of dolls, using them as targets in lieu of clay pigeons. Carlota, ever the enthusiast, eagerly encourages more of this impromptu "sport," yet her excitement is not the focal point amidst the turmoil.

Adding insult to injury, it transpires that Eduardo is engaged to another, complicating matters further. Elena cunningly sets the rumor mill ablaze, spreading tales of Eduardo's financial woes, suggesting he couldn't afford such an opulent wedding—a strategy that appears to divert attention from Cristina's plight. However, Alicia, Elena's rival from the previous episode, harbors doubts about the tale.

Just when things seemed to be spiraling out of control, a glimmer of hope arrives in the guise of Esther Zapito's 19th birthday celebration. Cristina, still reeling from heartbreak, is hesitant to mingle amidst the revelry. Even Santiago's little tragicomic play fails to elicit a smile from her. Elena teases him about his "acting" prowess afterward, revealing a softer facet of Santiago's personality.

Amidst these emotional upheavals, Sara sits for her entrance exam, colluding with Elena to keep it concealed from Angustias, whose incessant probing poses a constant threat. Though they manage to elude her suspicions, Cristina's secret is not so well-kept. Her sister discovers the truth, leading to a heart-to-heart in Cristina's bedroom, with Carlota eavesdropping from beneath the bed, adding another layer of intrigue to their intertwined secrets.

Each of these three ladies harbors her own hidden agenda and struggles, but the spotlight shifts to Esther's birthday bash. The evening is a jubilant affair until Cristina realizes she stands as an outlier among the prospective suitors. Rejected by all who shy away from dancing with her, it is Santiago who steps forward, heroically rescuing the evening for her.

Elena views the unfolding situation as a calamity and endeavors to converse with him, employing her fan as a novel means of communication. The exchanges between them are comical indeed, particularly as their playful banter spills beyond the confines of the dance floor. Later, when Cristina succumbs to faintness, Sara is promptly at her side, utilizing her medical expertise to lend her sister aid.

Back at home, in a state of delirium, Cristina nearly confides in her father about her pregnancy, but mercifully, Elena swiftly herds everyone out of the room before the revelation can be made. Left alone, Cristina pens a heartfelt letter to Eduardo, informing him of her impending motherhood. She enlists Santiago's reluctant assistance to serve as the messenger, entrusting him with the letter that binds her to her beloved. Though he agrees, albeit grudgingly, his enthusiasm for this task is scarcely discernible.

Elena becomes entwined in the affair, drawing closer to Santiago as they spy on Esther. She harbors doubts about the letter's wisdom, her concern for the girls evident. She fears Cristina might rush into another partnership amidst her volatile emotions and precarious circumstances. Additionally, this turn of events ensures Elena's extended employment, an underlying yet undeniable factor.

A palpable spark ignites between Santiago and Elena, evident in her blush as he departs. However, their evening takes a somber turn when Elena's tragic past resurfaces during a photo session. She hastily retreats and unexpectedly bumps into Gabriel, whose eerie voice was mentioned in the previous episode. It transpires that he is not in Bayona as he initially claimed, but intends to stay "as long as necessary." His ultimate purpose remains obscured, but it is revealed that Elena shared a past with him in Bayona.

That night, Elena burns Cristina's letter, with Santiago covering for her by weaving a web of lies to shield Cristina's fragile heart from further distress. Meanwhile, Cristina begins to view Santiago as a potential romantic interest, despite initially seeing him as a brotherly figure.

Sara, ever perceptive, deduces that Cristina's symptoms may hint at pregnancy. That evening, Pedro gathers the family, insisting that the secrets harbored among them be revealed. The dilemma lies in determining which secret he refers to.
