The Last Frontier – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Sidney is more preoccupied with this hard drive and she’s concerned as the Bureau are likely going to transfer that drive into their custody. Until they understand what’s on it, that’s probably not a good idea.

Along with this, Frank decides to call on the work of a guy called Mike from Chicago to try and identify the courier. As we find out later in the episode, Vincent is a ghost and only one picture of him has shown up through history.

At the hospital, Dr Wigg poses as a medic and runs into Sarah, of all people. She rings Frank and lets him know her spidey senses are tingling about this guy. Frank wants to come personally but she’d rather he send someone else. Well, that’s not going to happen.

Wigg is dangerous, with 36 murders to his name. He was en-route to being transported out to Terre Haute for execution before the transport went down in the Alaskan wilderness, so right now he has nothing to lose.

Thankfully, Frank gets to him first but the guy apparently knows that the pilot. Timothy O’Bannon, is still alive.

With Wigg's medical expertise on his side, there's no denying his sincerity. He demands the transfer of the deposit box to his possession, or else the pilot's life is in peril. Despite appearing stable and safe, time is of the utmost urgency. The ever-worsening brain swelling and the unknown contents of the box leave them in a precarious situation.

As Frank navigates the logistics of delivering the box safely to Alaska, they stumble upon an abandoned ambulance in the woods. Sidney confronts Frank, revealing her knowledge that the plane crash was predestined, just as they had suspected. She is aware of this because two years ago, she was tasked with eliminating a high-profile Chinese diplomat using the same tactic employed in this transport. The difference now is that Sidney's life hangs in the balance. If Havlock is brought into custody, they will need a scapegoat, making Sidney the unenviable public enemy number one. Already under investigation, it's a natural fit for the bureau.

Havlock is giving Frank clues and asking if he can be trusted because he needs a guardian of the truth, and Frank can be that person. Controlling the evidence means controlling the narrative, keeping the FBI and authorities at bay. As Havlock continues his work, Frank contacts him for assistance, but he reveals little more than the pilot's continued survival. This prompts Frank to rally his troops and send them on another nocturnal manhunt.

However, the location where Havlock is held up provides another crucial clue. The sound of church bells in the background, at 2am in the morning, leads the group to deduce that he's near the Carillon Clock Tower. The most likely locale is the nearby theater. Frank and his gang arrive at the theater and eventually track down Havlock, who has booby-trapped the place. But Havlock manages to elude them just as they realize that Vincent Thiago is also present. They track him down and take him into custody.

As Vincent rides along with them, Frank gets an inspired idea, inspired by Vincent's chilling Greek proverb, to illuminate a makeshift landing strip at Rosie Creek Farm using the car headlights. This would enable the pilot to land safely with the box. The broadcast is relayed over the radio, and the townsfolk gather in support. The bank manager touches down and hands over the box. Interestingly, this woman happens to be the mother of a boy this doctor killed in the past. Inside the safety deposit box are a multitude of photographs of his victims. Despite the doctor's explanation that he "set her son free" from terminal cancer by feeding him narcotics, the mother shoots Wigg dead.

Meanwhile, the group has no idea that Vincent is actually bugged and feeding all the audio back to Havlock. As this is happening, Frank and Sidney question the pilot, who is lucid and able to answer their questions. It turns out that Havlock saved everyone and prevented the transport from crashing badly. He forced the plane into a manual reversion and is the only reason anyone is still alive. However, the bad news keeps coming for Sidney when he receives word that the FBI have the drive in custody. They've checked it out and realized it has some sort of preset guidance system, which is all the physical evidence they need to hold against Sidney.
