The Last Night at Tremore Beach – Season 1 Episode 8 1

Back at the house, Judy and the kids are engaged in a desperate struggle to save Maria, amidst Bruno's harrowing visionary episode. Leo reaches out to Alex through the radio, confessing that he had kept a gun handy after receiving Alex's urgent message. Unable to sleep that fateful night, Leo noticed the intruders and eliminated them all, albeit with Maria sustaining injuries. Leo urges Alex to come over, revealing that he himself has been wounded.

Upon entering Leo's house, Alex and the policeman find a masked man lying on the bed, while Leo lies wounded on the bathroom floor. In one of his eerie visions, Bruno sees Leo shedding a devil mask during a parade. The masked man on the bed suddenly stirs and shoots the male officer, followed by Alex. He then turns his gun on the female officer, ending her life. As he removes his mask, the shocking truth unfolds – it's Leo! Though severely wounded, Alex remains conscious, while Leo reassuringly contacts Judy, pretending that everything is under control. Judy breaks the heart-wrenching news to Leo that she couldn't save Maria.

It transpires that Leo is none other than Souza. The masked men were Interpol agents, and Leo has been duping Alex from the start. Maria wasn't his mule; they were lovers. Following their son's demise, Maria suggested frequently changing identities and locations, funded by Leo's ill-gotten wealth. Alex realizes that Maria had tried to warn his family about Leo's true identity. Leo then calls for backup.

He binds and gags Alex, slips into his mask, and makes his way towards Alex's house, bent on eradicating everyone to sever all ties to his sinister past. Judy and the children flee towards a car with Paula inside, but Leo fires a shot from afar, felling Paula. In a panic, Judy and the kids scramble into the truck, but the engine refuses to ignite. Leo catches up with them and brutally ends their lives, all while Alex watches helplessly from afar. The following morning, Leo's men meticulously stage the crime scene, placing Maria on the bed and positioning a Leo lookalike in the bathroom with a disfigured face.

When the fatal hour for Alex approached, he protested, claiming an urgent reprieve as he had encountered Ramiro at the hospital mere moments before. Leo, unyielding and ruthless, disproved his claim with a bullet, and they proceeded to conceal Alex's body beneath the lighthouse's watchful gaze. The camera lingered on Alex's seemingly lifeless form, only for him to unexpectedly stir, his mind flooded with vivid flashbacks ignited by a strike of lightning.

Post-lightning, Alex found himself sprawled on the road, with Leo and Maria hovering anxiously over him. He awoke later in the hospital, mirroring the scene from the series' inception, realizing that he had witnessed his future self, who had unveiled the stark truth of his fate.

Alex then reached out to Ramiro, who soon paid him a visit. During their conversation, Alex unveiled the grim reality behind Estrella's demise. Ramiro departed just as Judy arrived, whisking Alex back to their shared abode. Alex then serenaded Judy with a melody he had composed specifically for her, announcing that he had solved the intricate puzzle of his life. He inquired about the possibility of staying with her at the hostel, voicing his dislike for their current house.

Before bidding farewell, Alex ventured to Leo and Maria's residence, catching them on their way to the beach. He slipped inside their home, and, in a clandestine act, rid the premises of Leo's cache of concealed firearms. He then took his leave, offering a heartfelt goodbye to the couple.

On his return journey, Alex dialed the police, disclosing Souza's whereabouts while gently mentioning that Leo's wife remained oblivious to her husband's secrets, thus repaying Maria's earlier attempt to shield Alex and his family. Ironically, the individual Alex mistook for Souza was revealed to be an Interpol officer. Alex mended his strained relationship with Paula and arranged a visit to see their children at her home. He persuaded Judy to embark on a brief journey with him, during which they would deliberate on their future residence.

Later, Alex confessed his knowledge of Judy's past, leading to an emotional embrace between them. Meanwhile, Interpol laid a trap for Leo and Maria, but Leo was caught unaware, firearmless, and subsequently apprehended.

The episode concluded with Alex's fingers dancing across the piano keys, his face lighting up with a smile as he gazed at his mother, who watched him play with pride and affection.
