The seventh episode of The Lowdown commences with Pastor Mark delivering a sermon at One Wells Church, the air thick with racial tension. He addresses the hardworking congregation as "warriors of God" and extols the virtues of segregation, using the prison system as a point of reference. This only stokes the flames of disdain further, as elsewhere, Donald Washberg continues his annual Land Run campaign. A race designed for children, where youngsters ride from one side of a field to the other while others on the sidelines dress up as Indians. Naturally, the latter do not take kindly to this treatment, and a group shows up to confront Washberg as he stands at his podium. Irene leads the charge, questioning him about mocking them over the stolen land. He stumbles over his words, clearly doing his campaign no favors in this setting.

Meanwhile, Lee arrives to see Elijah, determined to honor Dale's wishes and use the Will for good. He wants to right the obvious injustices here and is determined to print stories about the Washbergs and their dirty secret involving land ownership. Unfortunately, not everyone shares his sentiment for settlement.
Betty Jo meets with Frank in a seedy bar amidst all this, where he transfers a bag of money to her in exchange for the location of the Will, specifically Arthur William's address. She also throws Lee Raybon under the bus.
Speaking of Lee, he embarks on a road trip with Cyrus, where they visit a seasoned lawyer (and Cyrus' cousin), Daymond Brown. He eventually agrees to help with the Will situation, but it also means Lee is late for a parent-teacher conference - not a good look. When Lee finally arrives, he is crushed to learn that Sam is already there and Francis has even asked her stepdad to come too. Lee yearns to be someone she can admire and look up to, and he cannot accept that there is a new dynamic in the family setup. As for Francis, she simply wants her dad to be a father to her. She has always looked up to him, but Lee's off on these righteous crusades alone is as far away from being a dad as he could be, despite his best intentions.
Frank shows up to see Arthur Williams and concocts a story about how the Will is null and completely fraudulent. He also offers to pay Arthur off with $1000. Unfortunately for Frank, he is not a patient man. Eventually, he gets up and rummages through Arthur's drawers in search of the Will himself.
As Arthur draws near, Frank's temper flares, and with a furious push, he sends the man tumbling to the ground, demanding the whereabouts of the document. In a sudden turn of events, Arthur guides him into the living room and pulls open a drawer, his mind racing with possibilities. Ultimately, he reaches for a gun, but Frank is quicker, firing first and ending the Native's life.
Marty eventually meets with Lee, who brings up the Will and the unfolding events. Lee is convinced that this is Donald's scheme to align with Pastor Mark and turn this "racist fantasyland" into a reality. But of course, he doesn't have the rights to the land, so it shouldn't come to this.
Marty has an alternative theory and believes Frank is the true ringleader, brokering the whole deal away from Donald. They set out in pursuit, chasing him down the roads just as Arthur is killed defending himself against Frank.
Unfortunately, Lee's van proves to be less than reliable and breaks down, allowing Frank to escape. As he speeds down the road, Frank tears the Will to shreds and throws it out the window, while Lee frantically dials Betty Jo's number but gets no answer. He is shocked to discover she has betrayed him.
Frank's destination happens to be One Wells Church, and just as he arrives, Lee and Marty realize this is where he's headed and follow suit, of course after getting the van back up and running again. Lee bursts into the church right in the middle of a sermon, telling Marty to hold tight for the moment. Lee calls out to Frank and brandishes his gun, waving it across the church. However, the Pastor has armed men too, and they turn automatic guns on Lee. Who will be the first to flinch?
