In the fourth episode of "The Manipulated," the scene opens with the doctor injecting Tae-joong with a pink chemical, a sinister act that sets the stage for the episode's intrigue. As the doctor departs, he sends a text message, promising that "it will all be over in thirty minutes." In the aftermath, Tae-joong utilizes the nail he procured from the church to create a small short circuit, manipulating the guards into thinking there's a problem. He then steals a guard's security keys and grabs civilian clothes from the storage area, cleverly concealing his true identity beneath his prison uniform.
As Tae-joong hides from a guard, he suddenly feels a piercing pain that sends him scurrying to another room, where he climbs into the ventilation system. Meanwhile, outside the prison walls, Officer Yang encounters Noh Yong-sik waiting anxiously. Assuming Yong-sik simply missed his window of visitation time, Officer Yang continues on his patrol. However, within the prison, Tae-joong manages to reach the perimeter of the police station where civilians are waiting. He exits the building but is suddenly overcome by dizziness and collapses to the ground.
Back at his lavish home, Yo-han comes up with a sinister plan to amuse himself. He tasks his nanny, thrilled by his cruelty, with reaching out to their clients with connections at the Ministry of Justice. The prison warden soon receives a visit from the police commissioner, who introduces him to Yo-han. As Yo-han presents the warden with a proposal and a bag of gold bars, he makes a chilling request: to send him murderers, rapists, and thieves to play in his twisted game.
As Officer Yang reviews CCTV footage and retraces Tae-joong's steps, it becomes clear that Tae-joong's escape attempt was thwarted. He awakens in the infirmary, where the real doctor informs him that he had ingested warfarin (rat poison). It appears that the vitamins Yong-sik purchased acted as an antidote, buying Tae-joong some time. The priest found Tae-joong, but the guards keep details of his attempted escape under wraps.
Officer Yang rebukes Tae-joong for treating him too well and lets Deok-su out of solitary confinement with a warning not to cause trouble. Deok-su ignores the warning and rounds up his men to attack Tae-joong in the infirmary. The fight commences as guards and Deok-su's goons block the infirmary doors. Tae-joong takes down his opponents one by one until he faces off against Deok-su in a showdown. Despite being stabbed multiple times, Tae-joong manages to subdue Deok-su and severs his ear.
Tae-joong is sent to solitary confinement where he has a vision of Tae-jin and apologizes to him. Soon after, Tae-joong and other prisoners are forcibly removed from their cells and transported in trucks to a different location. When they wake up, Yo-han appears and tells them this is their "land of opportunity."
