The Miniature Wife – Season 1 Episode 1 1

We flash back to two weeks earlier, when the couple was celebrating their anniversary at a restaurant. They vow to be better people in the New Year.

Lindy announces that she has planned a trip to Vermont for them and their friends. She hopes to renew their vows and start anew once the new year arrives. Les is thrilled that Gary and Meg, their friends, are giving up their vacation in Cabo to join them for this special occasion.

When Lindy mentions that she has been ignoring their daughter Lulu's calls, Les promises to reach out to her. For his turn, he informs her that he has listed their house with a contingency to buy it back. This year, he wants to focus on his last chance to pursue his dreams in his career.

He asks Lindy to be patient with him, and by the end of the year, they can move back to their beloved grey house permanently. Of course, all this depends on Les getting Hilton Smith to invest in his new invention.

After dinner, the couple makes up and sleeps together. Les is relieved that Lindy welcomed him back into their matrimonial home.

The following day, Les delivered a mesmerizing presentation about his cell reduction machine, a revolutionary tool he hopes will transform the agricultural industry. During his presentation, he miniaturized a corn cob, and Hilton was impressed but not enough to invest immediately. Les refused to admit his past mistakes, but Hilton was impressed by his persistence. However, he wanted to see more of Les's true character.

Meanwhile, Lindy met with Richie at a bookstore, where he raved about her only book, which had been published eighteen years ago. Coincidentally, Richie worked for Les. He was heartbroken when Lindy ended their affair and said she wanted to work on her marriage with Les. As a parting gift, he insisted that she take the present he had bought her.

After their conversation, Lindy returned to her car and unboxed the present. She was appalled to learn that Richie had submitted a story he found among her things to the New York Times. The problem was that the article belonged to her student. Immediately, Lindy tried to reach out to her agent, Terry, to warn her about what Richie had done. Unfortunately, Terry didn't pick up her phone, and Lindy left a desperate voicemail.

She quickly drove to Jackie's place and praised the short story. She convinced Jackie to turn the story into a novel immediately. In fact, she insisted that Jackie take the entire semester off, isolate herself, and write. Jackie idolized her and agreed to leave for her uncle's cabin in Montana to work on the book.

Elsewhere at the lab, Martin scolded Les for inviting Hilton to the charity event at his home that evening. Les thought it would be a perfect opportunity for Hilton to see what he was truly about. Martin reminded him of last year's party, which had ended in disaster after Lindy and Les had gotten drunk. He went on to remind Les that they didn't handle their alcohol well and needed Hilton to invest. Martin was worried that Lindy and Les would cause another incident and ruin their chances. Les assured him that they would be fine and panickily called Lindy, leaving her a message asking her to call him.

As he exits, he runs into Richard, who informs him that he won't be attending the party. On the other hand, Lindy heads to her office and finally receives a call from Terry. Apparently, Terry is impressed and relieved that she's finally writing, and her short story is in the New York Times. She's angered when Lindy confesses the truth and begs her to fix the mess before she's labeled a fraud. She wants to focus on saving her marriage, and bad press will put a damper on that.

In the evening, Lindy returns home to find Starla, Les's condescending secretary, waiting for her. Starla asks her to put on her best behavior, wear the dress that she and Les picked out, and act like a loving, supportive wife. Frustrated, Lindy tells her to give her a minute.

At the party, Lindy is confronted by a journalist who tries to get a lead on what Les is currently working on. Already on her first drink, Lindy refuses to answer. She heads to the back and runs into Hilton. Unaware of who he is, she rants about how Les is a fake philanthropist and a workaholic, but a brilliant scientist.

Les panics in the middle of his speech when Starla informs him that a drunk Lindy is chatting it up with Hilton on the veranda. He quickly cuts his speech and runs over to do damage control. He asks Lindy to leave after he introduces her to Hilton. He's shocked when Hilton agrees to invest, saying that Lindy helped him come to this decision. He appreciates a workaholic. However, Hilton's chief scientist has to be at the lab as part of the deal.

Les calls Lindy to their room and rants about how he's stuck with Hilton's spy, who will probably steal his work and legacy. Lindy calms him down and encourages him to never give up. She reminds him of his past achievements and says he will change the world. He's inspired and suddenly cancels their vow renewal vacation. He asks that they move it to next year so he can go back to the lab and get to work.

Lindy tries to explain that it will be embarrassing for her to cancel, but he rushes off, saying they can send their friends gifts. She's angered, calls Richie, and invites him to Vermont. He's happy to join her, calling it his Christmas miracle. They agree to meet in a few hours at a local hotel. Still angry, Lindy warns Starla to kick everyone out and end the party. She also gives the journalist a hell of an interview.

At the lab, Les is hurt when Vivienne, Hilton's spy, informs him that Martin has already signed the deal with Hilton. As such, she will be at the lab full-time starting the next day. Les is angered by her demeaning words. After Vivienne leaves, Les packs his latest invention and heads home. He finds Lindy all packed and ready to leave. They get into an argument as Les puts the lab stuff in the freezer. As they argue about the interview she gave Nils, the conversation turns to their marriage and careers. They tear into each other with no mercy.

Les accidentally turns on the miniaturising truck, and Lindy absentmindedly picks it up as she mocks him. In a fit of anger, Les presses the button, and the truck sprays a liquid on Lindy. He starts to apologise just as Lindy is miniaturised. She passes out for a few minutes, and when she comes to, he's relieved. However, she's shocked by what's happening and starts to run away. She accidentally hits the chair leg and passes out again.
