In the opening of Episode 3 of The Miniature Wife, a flashback takes us back to 22 years ago, where Lindy was deep in the process of writing her novel. Les, her devoted companion, was by her side, supporting her every move and locking her in the office as per her request. He encouraged her throughout the brainstorming process, leaving no stone unturned in his quest to help her succeed.

Fast forward to the present, Lindy wakes up in the dollhouse once again, the sound of a ringing phone echoing through the tiny space. It's Les on the other end, informing her that he's fixed the broken wall and that she'll be safe inside the dollhouse. When she asks to be taken to his office, he refuses, assuring her that it's not safe. Instead, he suggests that she explore the dollhouse, promising that he's close to solving the mystery of her situation.
Left alone in the dollhouse, Lindy tries to calm her nerves and checks out the new additions Les has made. In a moment of desperation, she decides to raid her closet to see if the miniaturized dresses fit her.
At work, Martin confronts Les about wasting time fighting with Vivienne. When Les asks what would happen if they miniaturized a human being, Martin is shocked and reminds him that they're not at human trials yet and would start with animals. He urges Les to focus on solving the restoration formula instead.
Les heads to his office, where Vivienne is waiting for him. She reiterates the new lab rules and asks that they keep no secrets. As Lindy dresses up, she recalls the night she won her Pulitzer award. She and Terry were overjoyed, and Les was by her side, offering unwavering support. As she tries on the dress she wore that night, she realizes she needs to call Terry but doesn't remember his number.
She calls Les from the landline and asks him to send her Terry's number. Les asks her to calm down and wait until he restores her. He lets slip that he knows she's trying on her dresses, and she realizes he's been watching her. This time, he's asked for four days to fix everything, a fact that doesn't sit well with Lindy.
The scene is filled with tension and anticipation as Lindy struggles to cope with her miniaturized state while Les works tirelessly to restore her to her former size. The memories of her Pulitzer win add a touch of nostalgia to the scene, while Martin's concerns about human trials add a layer of complexity to Les's actions.
This brings her back to their conversation on the night she won a Pulitzer award. He asked her to move to New York and allow him to pursue his scientific dreams, promising that it would only take 2 or 3 years. She figured that the hiatus would give the literary world enough time to miss her while she worked on her new book.
Janet interrupts Les and asks him to check on something. He notices the deadline clock in the lab, but unfortunately, his card refuses to open the chemical lab. He gets furious when he realizes that Vivienne has downgraded his badge to only say "employees."
As Lindy reminisces about how Les lied to her, Richard arrives at the house. Unfortunately, he is unable to break in as Lulu, who is returning home, finds him. She sends Richard away, finding his presence at their home suspicious. Inside, Lulu settles in and notices nothing strange.
Back at the lab, Les confronts Vivienne about the new protocols. He tries to reason with her and invites her to join him as partners. He shows her the miniaturized version of Mr. Magoo and melts her heart. She believes he is thinking bigger and takes Mr. Magoo. Seeing the cat, she offers to help him get past the protocols. As they talk, she promises to look after Mr. Magoo and check his vitals while he runs off to try out his latest epiphany.
He heads home, his heart heavy as he explains to Lindy that he's picking up a few things and leaving soon. Taking advantage of this moment, Lindy sneaks out of the dollhouse, her heart laced with hurt as she overhears Lulu mocking her while venting to Les. Les tries to intervene, but Lulu continues, comparing her mother to a hurricane and mentioning Richard, whom Les dismisses as harmless. To protect Lindy's feelings, Les lies and tells Lulu that she's gone to the gray house, and he even forbids her from playing with the dollhouse.
Later, Lindy discovers Les's secrets when she sneaks into his briefcase. When Lulu finds the notes Les left in the dollhouse, she assumes it's one of her dad's strange charms. Meanwhile, Terry struggles to fix the plagiarism issue but fails, putting her in a tough spot as she prepares for her imprint.
At the lab, Les warns Richard about returning to his house. They return to work and run another experiment, this time with the corn taking only 30 seconds before it explodes. This revelation dawns on Lindy, who has been sneaking out of the briefcase and observing everything. She realizes that she is the human version of the corn.
She causes a commotion to summon Les to his office, confronting him for lying and promising to expose him. He uses his dustbin to prevent her from running and finally confesses that it may take months or years for him to figure things out. He claims to be making progress and asks her to trust him. He leaves her in his desk drawer, and she agrees, but only if he stops spying on her and locking her in the dollhouse. She also requests a working laptop and her favorite lipstick. In the drawer, Lindy finds Les's phone and uses it to call Terry, who informs her that things are still unresolved. Terry wants to end their business relationship, but Lindy threatens to bring her down if the plagiarism scandal goes public. Terry is suddenly motivated to fix things and calls Jackie, the original author.
After that call, Lindy calls Richard, who is in the middle of another experiment with Les and the team. She tells him that Les has miniaturized her and she's in his office drawer. Richard is shocked but can't react in front of everyone. He hangs up and lies about it being an emergency call from a loved one.
Later, Les drives Lindy home and apologizes. They agree that telling Lulu the truth would traumatize her. Lindy worries that Lulu will find a way to blame her. They refer to their therapist's book to find a resolution. At the lab, Vivienne researches more about Les, and it seems she's taken by him, even considering him a potential life partner. She also loves Mr. Magoo and is taking good care of him.
Upon returning home, Lindy settles in the dollhouse. The next morning, she's surprised when a miniature Richard shows up at her doorstep. Either way, she's happy for some company.
