Episode 5 of The Morning Show picks up right where the previous episode left us, with a flurry of emotions and drama unfolding. Off-camera, Alex berates Bradley for her behavior, while Chip sternly warns her not to alienate her colleagues, seeing potential in her despite her flaws.

However, the studio is far from calm as Mitch unexpectedly appears, shocking everyone. He delivers an emotional speech, expressing his sadness over the show's struggles and his longing for his former colleagues. Receiving no answers from the stunned audience, he continues to profess his feelings of importance and then departs. But just as he's about to step into the elevator, Bradley intercepts him, demanding to know who else knew about the situation.

The next morning, Bradley arrives at the studio nervous yet resolute for her interview with Maggie Brenner, whom Mia had previously warned her about. Maggie starts grilling her about the changes she's made to the show, but Bradley remains calm and unbiased, navigating the tough questions with ease. Meanwhile, The New York Times approaches the channel, seeking quotes about the escalating scandal surrounding Mitch. Unable to prevent the article's publication, Fred panics and vents his frustration to Cory.

Later, Chip meets with Robbie from the Times to inquire about the story they're about to run. Elsewhere, Alex hosts a charity auction, hoping to smooth things over with Maggie Brenner. As the party gets underway, Audra from YDA approaches Daniel, praising his talent and urging him to talk to her about future opportunities. Alex finally corners Maggie and tries to convince her that she helped Bradley with the interview. However, Maggie sees through her lies and reveals that she's not planning to write a feminist piece about her.

After a tense singing session with Cory, a stressed-out Alex confesses to Jason that she needs to see Mitch. Meanwhile, Fred braces himself to give a quote to the New York Times. Bradley, meanwhile, heads out to celebrate Claire's birthday with her colleagues. However, the conversation soon turns heated as they discuss Mitch and the widespread knowledge of his behavior. The topic is too much for Mia, who is deeply affected by the issue and ends up leaving the bar early.

Later, Mitch picks up Alex, and as they drive, their conversation turns to Bradley. Mitch advises Alex to be patient and doubts her ability to last in the industry. After some lighthearted banter, Mitch suddenly stops the car and suggests that they get together, now both single. Alex initially laughs it off, but as they hug and lean in for a kiss, her phone beeps, signaling the release of the explosive article from the Times.

Everyone eagerly turns the pages of the article, not only to hear the testimonies of other women but also to learn that no further instances of concealment have been reported. As Mitch pores over the words, he stumbles upon a shocking revelation - details of his emotional visit to the station have somehow leaked into the public eye. Anger boils within him, prompting him to dial Fred's number and confront him head-on. Mitch warns him sternly that if he's destined to fall, Fred will surely plummet along with him.

Meanwhile, Bradley's heart is heavy after a difficult phone call with her estranged father. Seeking solace, she finds her way back to the familiar bar and ends up spending the night in the arms of the bartender. The next morning, she returns to the hotel, where Cory comes to her aid, guiding her back to her room. With that, the episode draws to a close.
