Published: Jun 24 2024

The opening of Episode 10 of The Night Agent Season 1 takes us back to an eventful moment eleven years ago, when the FBI descended upon Peter's home, marking the beginning of a steep decline in his father's esteemed career and reputation. Shifting gears to the present, Peter and Rose are in Farr's car, racing towards Camp David with a single purpose: to thwart an assassination attempt on the President.

Farr attempts to rationalize her role in this scheme, but Peter and Rose are unmoved by her justifications. Her motives, whether justified or not, matter little to them. Yet, despite her treachery, Farr confesses that she wants to save the President, admitting that she made a mistake. She even discloses that she recruited Peter as a scapegoat, should the mission fail. Rose, unable to forgive her for ordering the murders of her aunt and uncle, warns Peter to steer clear of Farr's deceit.

Arriving at Camp David, Farr insists they hide in the car trunk while she maneuvers her way inside. She smoothly navigates through the inspection, evading suspicion. Once inside, she rushes to warn Ben, but her conversation is abruptly cut short by Briggs' intervention. Briggs opens fire, fatally wounding Ben and injuring Farr. Spotting Peter, he flees the scene. Peter and Rose realize the communication lines are down, yet curiously, Briggs and his team are still able to communicate with each other.

The Night Agent – Season 1 Episode 10 1

Meanwhile, Arrington, Maddie, and a group of unfamiliar agents board an Air Force helicopter destined for Camp David. Arrington is instantly suspicious of the new agents, especially when she notices they're carrying a suspicious-looking bomb in a suitcase. Upon reaching their destination, she tasks Maddie with finding the President and alerting him of the imminent danger.

As Maddie, her father, and another Secret Service agent retreated into a secure chamber, Arrington was left behind, under surveillance. Maddie had been misled, thinking her father was escorting her to a meeting with the President, but in reality, he was steering her into an underground sanctuary, away from the imminent explosion. Inside the safe room, her father apologized for accusing her of Sara's death and attempted to justify his intention to assassinate the President and Zadar.

Maddie desperately tried to persuade him to abandon his plan, but her father was unwavering. In the end, she vowed to him that she would not remain silent, despite the impending blast. He reluctantly let her leave, thinking that she would perish in the explosion, and he could use her death to garner public sympathy.

Meanwhile, Arrington overpowered her captor, realizing that he had remotely triggered the bomb's timer, leaving them with less than ten minutes. She hastened to evacuate everyone to safety. Peter, on the other hand, took Rose to the communication center and urged her to restore the communication systems. He battled one of Briggs' men, seizing his communication device.

Peter raced to Briggs, attempting to convince him to call off the attack. Through the intercepted communications, he overheard that they had a backup plan should the first bomb fail. After a fierce confrontation, Briggs refused to yield or halt the attack. Other military officers spotted Peter and opened fire, considering him an intruder.

Just in the nick of time, Rose managed to restore the communications, alerting the President not to enter the building. Arrington, too, succeeded in rescuing Maddie. The Vice President heard the explosion and assumed the mission had been successful.

The President was hastily ushered into a car, and Peter, listening in, impersonated Briggs. He pleaded for the mission to be aborted, but the rogue agent pointed out that it was too late. The President was on her way to her plane, where the second bomb was concealed. Rose tried to communicate with the officers, instructing them not to shoot Peter, but they suspected their communications had been compromised.

Peter hastened towards the chopper, seizing the President as his hostage. With determination in his eyes, he insisted on a thorough inspection of the aircraft. The President complied, and the officers began their search. The initial scan came up empty, but on the second round, they stumbled upon a bomb, its ticking echoing through the tense silence. Before they could evacuate the area, the explosion ripped through the night, sending debris flying.

Amidst the chaos, the officers swiftly secured the President and apprehended Peter. Rose dashed forward, her heart pounding, but her efforts were too late. Just then, Maddie and Arrington arrived, intervening to prevent Peter's arrest.

Later, they approached the Vice President, who put on a facade of shock and concern upon seeing Maddie. His surprise was genuine when she emerged unscathed. Meanwhile, Rose returned to Farr's side, assisting her in stemming the flow of blood. Rose's motivation was clear: she wanted Farr to survive, solely to see her face justice and pay for her crimes.

Once the dust settled, the President summoned Peter and Rose for a meeting. Peter refused to seek public recognition for his brave actions, prompting the President to inquire about his desires. His reply was straightforward—he wanted to see his father's files. The President complied, and as Peter skimmed through the documents, his heart sank as he watched his father confess to crimes on video.

The President then revealed that Peter's father was innocent, merely preparing for an undercover assignment. Tragically, his cover was exposed before he could embark on his mission. It wasn't a car accident that took his life; he was assassinated, and his assassin was eventually tracked down and eliminated. The President extended an offer for Peter to join her as a night agent, working undercover.

Meanwhile, Arrington agreed to speak at Erik's funeral. The new director informed her that the President desired her on her detail, and she gladly accepted. She met Maddie at a restaurant, where it became evident that Maddie was testifying against her father. She was also learning to stand on her own, with aspirations of studying abroad once the case was closed.

The episode concluded with Peter bidding farewell to Rose, who was currently involved in a romantic relationship, before embarking on his first mission overseas.
