Episode 14 of "The Pitt" kicks off with whispers and rumors circulating like wildfire about the identity of the shooter. The Pitt – Season 1 Episode 14 1

Meanwhile, the rest of the Emergency Room (ER) staff is grappling with their own challenges, scrambling to prepare for transferring patients to the Operating Room (OR). However, a looming question hangs over their heads: where is Robby? Last seen having an emotional meltdown, it's Whitaker who eventually locates him. Despite his efforts, he can only manage to coax Robby to his feet before the latter pushes him away.

Robby eventually returns, but his fragile state is palpable. Gloria confronts him about the hospital maintenance issues, the unauthorized use of blood, and the David situation, prompting Robby to lose his temper and shout back at her. Abbot quickly intervenes, urging Robby to take a breath of fresh air, as the rest of the ER staff realizes that Robby must have spilled the beans about Leah to Jake.

Outside, the ER's hustle and bustle continues as another pair of patients are rushed in. The man in the backseat is turning blue and desperately needs oxygen, while the driver, a Gunshot Wound (GSW) patient, requires immediate attention.

Langdon and Santos find themselves reluctantly teaming up in this tense scenario, with Santos attempting to assess the situation while sharply rebuking Langdon for his presence. Her words strike like daggers, insisting he has no business being there. Dr. Elias, acute as ever, swiftly perceives the underlying friction between them.

Meanwhile, McKay blithely disregards a call from the courthouse, presumably about her ankle monitor, choosing instead to immerse herself in her work. Yet, the breaking news captures everyone's attention: the shooter has been identified. To everyone's relief, it transpires to be a case of suicide, a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, ruling out David. The deceased was armed with an AR-15 and a duffel bag brimming with ammunition, but mercifully, the bloodshed ended before more lives could be lost. SWAT has secured the festival grounds, ensuring no more patients arrive. Gloria addresses the team, her voice filled with gratitude for their tireless efforts.

Amidst this chaos, another emergency unfolds. A child named Flynn, babbling incoherently, suddenly collapses. Melissa springs into action, skillfully bringing his little sister in with Princess, expertly navigating the sea of blood that surrounds them.

McKay and Robby then confront the daunting task of interviewing David, who until now, was the prime suspect. Unfortunately, he is compelled to remain under mandatory observation for 72 hours. The news falls upon him like a leaden weight, and understandably, he does not take it well.

Theresa's arrival brings a poignant scene as she confronts her son. Her voice trembles with fear, her heart aching at the thought of losing him. David, however, brushes her concerns aside, resisting the idea of speaking to a counselor and offering no real explanation for his prolonged silence.

Robby swiftly emphasizes that McKay's decision to bring him in handcuffs is entirely her fault, a rather harsh way to assign blame in such a manner. He ultimately leaves her to deal with the consequences. Similarly, when Robby discusses the news of Leah's death with Janey, Jake's mother, the conversation does not sit well with him. Nonetheless, he doesn't dwell on it as he has a task at hand. While Robby dives back into his duties without hesitation, Santos reverts to her less endearing traits, indulging in a KitKat in front of a patient, albeit a slimy reporter. Fortunately, Dr. Elias sets her straight, though it's a shame such interactions haven't been more prevalent throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Robby and Melissa proceed to converse with Georgia, Flynn's sister, uncovering the possibility that Flynn may indeed have measles. His illness, which began about a week ago, aligns with the timeline for the condition. Robby further deduces that the child might suffer from Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis, an immune response following an infection that unfortunately carries a 20% mortality rate.

However, Flynn's parents prove to be anti-vaxxers, who, in addition to refraining from vaccinating their children, are also hesitant to allow doctors to perform a spinal tap that could potentially save Flynn's life. His mother, glued to her phone, cites "Doctor Google" and the risks she's found online. After a long and arduous day, Robby's frustration boils over, and he takes it out on the parents, ultimately storming out of the room in a state of exhaustion and irritability.

Elsewhere, the police arrive to apprehend Cassie McKay. She's denied the opportunity to explain herself, merely pointing out that she drilled a hole. Without further ado, the officers cuff her and arrest her on the spot.
