Episode 4 of "The Pitt" unfolds with Dana racing in, her voice echoing through the halls as she alerts everyone to the theft of an ambulance. However, amidst this urgency, Robby's thoughts are consumed by the peaceful passing of Mr. Spencer, who has been clinging to life with the help of machines for several episodes now. With compassionate guidance, Robby assists his children in letting go, gently urging them not to subject Mr. Spencer to any more agonizing surgeries that merely delay the inevitable.

The Pitt – Season 1 Episode 4 1

As they transition to the adult paediatrics wing, a flood of harrowing memories washes over Robby, who had bravely cared for patients here during the harrowing days of the COVID pandemic. As the children bid their father farewell, Robby forcefully excuses himself from the room, retreating to the bathroom. There, he finally finds release, albeit after a near-panic attack that left him breathless.

Elsewhere, Santos faces harsh criticism from her superior for her indifferent demeanor towards patients. She even engages in a heated debate with Mohan, insisting that her methods have always worked for her. However, she is swiftly reminded that personal emotions must not interfere with professional duties.

Just as Santos is reeling from the rebuke, a new patient arrives with cracked ribs, thrusting her into a critical situation. Without consulting any senior doctors, she makes a bold decision and agrees to a procedure. But her haste leads to disaster when the patient's condition suddenly worsens. As Langdon arrives on the scene, he swiftly saves the patient by puncturing his lung to release the trapped air.

When Langdon discovers that Santos had ordered the bipap, his displeasure is palpable. The silence in the room is deafening, with only Santos's superior standing by her side, echoing the patient's earlier sentiment that he clearly likes her.

Meanwhile, Javadi is assigned to care for a new patient, Tasha, who has cut her arm. Although McKay assures her that the wound doesn't look too serious and that Tasha will only need a few stitches, Javadi notices a misgendering error on the charts. She vows to investigate and correct it, ensuring that Tasha is treated with the respect and dignity she deserves.

Melissa and Mohan are grappling with a five-month-old infant, tears streaming down its agitated face. Their efforts to pinpoint the cause of distress are futile until they uncover a hair tightly wrapped around one of its toes, severely restricting blood flow. A straightforward task, yet Robby's oversight of the scenario underscores Mohan's prowess as a doctor.

Out in the hallway, a cluster of doctors is confronted with the daunting task of sedating a restless psychotic patient. The patient, in a fit of agitation, ends up urinating all over Dennis Whitaker, prompting him to seek a fresh set of scrubs once again. Will this become a never-ending saga for Dennis?

Jennifer, now discharged from the hospital, takes a moment to address Nick's parents on her way out. She sets the record straight about the Zanex incident, clarifying that Nick was merely doing a favor for someone else. This heartfelt conversation helps to dispel any lingering misunderstandings between them. Santos, who happens to be observing this, remarks to Mohan that she still has much to learn. Mohan nods in agreement, echoing her sentiment with a simple, "Yes, you do."

In the meantime, Dr. Mohan and Melissa are called to attend to a new patient—a 12-year-old boy experiencing pubic pain. The situation is resolved swiftly and efficiently.

Elsewhere in the hospital, the doctors continue their relentless betting spree, wagering on the outcome of the stolen ambulance. To everyone's surprise, even Kiara gets caught up in the excitement and places her own bet!

As the episode draws to a close, we find ourselves back with Mr. Spencer. Just as he passes by, another patient collapses dramatically in the waiting room, setting the stage for yet another dramatic twist in the unfolding saga of the hospital.
