The Pitt – Season 2 Episode 3

Published: Feb 07 2026

In the beginning of episode 3 of The Pitt season 2, we're thrown right back into the hospital's chaotic environment, where the erratic patient from the previous chapter, Jackson Davis, is brought in by the ER. Initially, it's believed that his erratic behavior might be drug-related, but it's too early to tell. Jackson actually throws a chair at Tony, the campus security guard who's there to keep an eye on things. Later in the episode, Tony brings in some cops to take his statement. He's convinced that Jackson is on drugs, but when the results come back, it seems to be something else. There are no drugs in Jackson's system, and the taser marks on the back of his neck change things dramatically. Now Tony is in the firing line, and Jackson's condition remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Santos is determined to disprove the idea that Kylie has been abused. She doesn't want to hear any other theories. Benny Connors, Kylie's dad, eventually shows up at the ER. Benny and his girlfriend, Gina, butt heads over the accident and things get heated. That is, until the social worker shows up and questions Benny with Santos. The latter comes right out and asks about "roughhousing," until Dana steps in to save the day. It turns out it wasn't abuse but ITP given Kylie's low platelets. Santos is left with egg on her face (and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving doctor).

Santos explains that Kylie has a weak immune system and bruises easily. They'll be treating her with high-dose steroids to suppress her immune system but for now, she'll have to stay in the hospital for 3 days. However, the damage is already done. Gina and Benny break up in the ER, in full view of everybody.

Elsewhere, Mr Digby, the homeless man, is cared for by Dana who offers him some kindness and a sandwich too. The CT results for Mr Williams don't look good though. McKay breaks the news to him that he has a brain tumor. This may well have been what made him fall, plus he needs a brain biopsy too.

Michael Williams is clearly in a state of turmoil, but McKay does her best to soothe him. Interestingly, he calls in his ex-wife, Gretchen, as his next of kin. She's just as bewildered as Michael, but he apologizes for not updating the forms.

Gretchen has already moved on and remarried, but their initial breakup was due to Mike's unpredictable moods. Now that it's confirmed that his mood swings were related to a medical condition, she feels awful. For now, she agrees to remain as next of kin and leaves the hospital.

Mark Yee, a new patient, has been involved in a car accident with his wife, Nancy. Mark needs a full body scan to assess the extent of his injuries, but when the results come back, the CT scan is clear. However, the real issue is that he has critically low potassium levels. They suspect he may be suffering from hypokalaemia periodic paralysis - a condition where potassium shifts into the cells, causing weakness. It should wear off after a few hours.

But Mark's wife, Nancy, is the real problem. She suddenly faints due to internal bleeding in her spleen and is rushed to surgery to check on her condition.

As Mark recovers (and overhears the drama between Gina and Benny in the ER), he records a video message apologizing to his wife.

As the episode draws to a close, there's a major problem at Westbridge. It's a Code Black and is heading towards an internal disaster. Central is diverting all their ambulance traffic to them, but they don't know how long this will take.
