Episode 4 of The Sandman Season 2 kicks off with Morpheus wallowing in gloom, still reeling from Nada's second rejection. His petulance manifests in a strict ban on uttering Nada's name, the erasure of her chambers, and an unrelenting downpour that plagues the Dreaming. Just as he seems poised to wallow further in his sorrow, Delirium bursts into his realm, vacillating between playful antics and self-deprecating soliloquies. Her swings culminate in a passionate tirade, lamenting how, despite her goodness, her kin mock, mistreat, and shun her. Morpheus' unexpected apology startsles her, marking a first in their long history, and jogs her memory about the true purpose of her visit.

She warns that changes are afoot, portending darker days unless the missing Endless—none other than Destruction—is located. Though he deserted them and his duties, Delirium's concern for him remains steadfast. She confesses to have first sought aid from Desire and Despair, prompting a grimace of irritation from Morpheus, who wasn't her initial choice for support. He promptly reaches out to Desire, accusing them of filling Delirium's head with nonsensical notions. Furthermore, he suspects Desire of orchestrating the messy reunion with Nada. Desire refutes these allegations, revealing their genuine wish for Delirium to move past her fixation on Destruction. They caution Morpheus against exploiting her mission to pursue Nada and urge him to send his sister back home.

However, the seed of covertly stalking Nada has already taken root in Morpheus' mind, and he decides to accompany Delirium on her quest. Oblivious to his ulterior motives, she unveils her strategy to question Destruction's circle of acquaintances. This includes Bernard Capax, a 12,000-year-old mortal lawyer whose wisdom spans eons; Ishtar, the Dancing Woman, alias the God of Sex and War, an ex-lover of Destruction's; and Etain of the Second Look, a mythical figure wrapped in enigma.

Meanwhile, Lucienne attempts to deter Morpheus from his clandestine pursuit of Nada, but he views her interventions as divine nudges steering him towards their destined reunion.

As Morpheus and Delirium venture into the realm of the waking world, Destruction receives a foreboding warning, accompanied solely by his loyal pet dog, Barnabas, who puzzles over the source of the alarm. Destruction asserts that they are on the brink of great peril.

On Earth, Morpheus utilizes the transportation services of Farrell, alias Pharamond, a waning deity who has prolonged his existence by establishing an otherworldly travel agency. As the siblings make their way to the agency, Morpheus momentarily mistakes a passerby for Nada, quickly diverting Delirium's inquiry into his actions. Suddenly, Bernard meets his untimely demise in a construction mishap, prompting Morpheus to ponder if this is Destruction's ominous message to halt their search. However, Delirium dismisses it as a mere coincidence.

Wanda, Farrell's chauffeur, suggests a brief respite, and they retreat for a refreshing drink. The conversation drifts to grumpy siblings and missing kin. Morpheus attempts to illustrate that Wanda might not relish a reunion with her conservative family, who frown upon her transition, but he is proven mistaken. She confidently asserts her eagerness to reconnect with them.

Emboldened by this revelation, Delirium resumes her relentless pursuit. Their next destination is a temple-turned-strip club, helmed by Ishtar, who harbors a deep resentment towards Morpheus for discouraging her relationship with Destruction. Morpheus insists that he bears her no malice, but she is weary of otherworldly political machinations. Unaware of Destruction's whereabouts, she tries to coerce Morpheus into leaving.

He cautions her about Destruction's ominous warnings, to which she responds by pointing out that his visit has already made her a target. Determined to make an exit with a bang, she performs in her true form, mesmerizing the audience. Meanwhile, Destruction ignites her greenroom, causing a gas leak that leads to a catastrophic explosion, claiming the lives of Ishtar and Wanda, among others.

Desire arrives on the scene, distressed by the immense loss of their sacred temple. They accuse Morpheus of exploiting Delirium and causing the deaths of innocents in his quest to find Nada. Delirium is devastated by the betrayal, comprehending why Destruction chose to abandon them. She is further incensed with Desire for allowing her to be manipulated. In a fit of despair, she seals her realm, severing ties with both. Having reached his limit with Morpheus's hypocrisy, Desire also terminates their relationship at the conclusion of The Sandman Season 2 Episode 4.
