On the culminating day of her book tour, Miren receives a chilling package bearing the words, "Do you want to play?" Inside lies a photograph of Laura Valdivia, bound and helpless. Laura vanished mysteriously in 2012, when she was just seventeen. To compound her unease, Miren catches a glimpse of someone surreptitiously filming her.

Meanwhile, Inspector Belen faces imminent transfer, much to the protest of her steadfast partner, Detective Chaparro, who insists on throwing a farewell bash. Their most recent case revolves around Allison Hernandez, a seventeen-year-old girl discovered lifeless in an abandoned hotel, hung in a manner that eerily mimics a crucifixion.

Miren and her mentor, Eduardo, revisit Laura's enigmatic disappearance, which was hastily concluded as a runaway incident and marked one of Miren's earliest assignments at the onset of her career. Eduardo urges her to alert the authorities, but Miren, driven by an insatiable curiosity, decides to embark on her own investigation.

Allison's autopsy uncovers a perplexing finding: there were no signs of a struggle. Furthermore, months prior, she had etched a cross onto her wrist. Concurrently, a religious figure finds himself engrossed in Miren's interview about her own sexual assault, his eyes gleaming with a mix of fascination and concern.

Returning to her workplace at Diario Sur, Miren is startled to find her desk occupied by Jaime. Their boss, Paco, makes an announcement that sends shockwaves through the room—Miren and Jaime will be partnering up to uncover the truth behind Allison's death. Their initial clue leads them to Los Arcos, an elite institution that not only educated Allison but also Laura and, coincidentally, Jaime himself.

As Miren strides towards the school, her demeanor is as icy and distant as the winter air. Her frank and unyielding manner fails to soften the blow, but Jaime's charm wins over Sofia, the receptionist, securing them an audience with Principal Garrido. He warns Miren that Garrido is deeply religious and fiercely protective of his school's reputation.

Meanwhile, Belen visits Juana, Allison's grandmother and a former janitor at the school. Juana, equally religious, remains unaware of the scar that marks Allison's wrist. Elsewhere, Chaparro notices a suspicious figure lurking near the hotel, casting suspicious glances.

Back at the school, Garrido greets them with charm and openness. Miren catches a glimpse of his previous guest: Alberto Mendoza, a renowned philanthropist and school board member. Suddenly, she inquiries about Laura, prompting a defensive reaction from Garrido. He insists that both Laura and Allison attended the school on scholarships, but that's where their similarities end. Jaime, caught off guard by the questioning, rebukes Miren for her impulsiveness. She mentions Madrid, and he storms off in frustration. Miren stays behind to attend the assembly in Allison's honor. Garrido speaks passionately about safeguarding the school's morals from those who would exploit Allison's death to tarnish their reputation.

After the assembly, Miren spots Nacho, Laura's brother, but he darts away before she can reach him. Meanwhile, it becomes clear that Jaime's relationship with his possibly ex-wife, Carol, is strained, and he plans to visit his daughter Olivia in Madrid soon.

Miren confronts Eduardo about the school, and he reveals that 90% of the families there are religious. He disapproves of her investigation, calling her obsessive. She lashes out at him in frustration, and he walks away. Determined, Miren continues to track Nacho, who eventually caves and admits that Allison associated with a troublesome crowd. She offers him her number, and he reluctantly takes it, his reluctance palpable.

Eduardo, haunted by their last exchange, is in the midst of voicing an apology to Miren when an unexpected collision interrupts him. Rushing off to his class, a sudden wave of dizziness overcomes him. Before he knows it, he collapses and is swiftly whisked away to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Miren encounters Jaime loitering outside their office, who casually brings up Madrid. She is well-aware of his dismissal stemming from the dissemination of falsehoods about a local judge. He drops hints at a deeper story but swiftly diverges from the subject. Jaime concedes to the connection between Laura and Allison, vowing to collaborate with Miren on unraveling it. However, his cooperation evaporates the moment Miren withholds crucial information from him. Reluctantly, she agrees to his terms.

At the precinct, Belen's patience is wearing thin, weighed down by the relentless deaths and brutalities. In a fleeting moment, her eyes catch a suspicious phone number scribbled in Allison's diary. Elsewhere, at a nearby church, Roberto, the shady character from the hotel, offers his condolences to Juana with a hint of insincerity.

That fateful night, Paco breaks the heart-wrenching news to Miren: Eduardo has succumbed to a heart attack. As The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game Episode 1 draws to a close, a video clip resurfaces, capturing Allison in her own recording—her second trial for the Soul Game, a desperate quest to prove her worthiness. With a train thundering by, she narrowly escapes across the train tracks, her life hanging by a thread.
