The Summer Hikaru Died – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Within the school's confines, whispers ripple through the student body about the deceased old woman and the eerie occurrences that have plagued their days. A trembling friend pleads with Yoshiki to escort him through a forest shrouded in dread, but Yoshiki hesitates. Hikaru, sensing an adventure, along with a few others, eagerly volunteer, convincing Yoshiki to join. Though the woods loom menacingly, they traverse its depths unscathed.

Elsewhere, Tanaka arrives at his intended destination, but his casual demeanor alarms the men who are intently aware of the ominous deaths plaguing their community. The late elder had harbored an insurmountable fear of something lurking in the mountains ever since her daughter's demise; perhaps her dread unwittingly beckoned this malevolent force.

As they retrace their steps, Yoshiki catches a fleeting glimpse of something sinister emerging from the forest shadows, inexorably drawn to him. Hikaru, acute to the peril, realizes the entity is trailing Yoshiki – a dire omen indeed.

Elsewhere, the concerned men relocate to the sanctuary of a shrine, seeking safety in its holy aura. Tanaka produces a bag, which Hikaru might have carried to the mountain on his fateful day – inside, they uncover a wooden idol, intended to repel malevolent spirits. However, Tanaka fears the malevolent presence has already descended from the mountain, embedding itself within the village.

Emerging from the forest, the girls flee in terror, haunted by an unseen horror. Yoshiki, steadfast and protective, attends to Hikaru, who has tumbled and now suffers a nosebleed. The malevolent entity, attempting to attach itself to Yoshiki, had been inadvertently consumed by Hikaru. Hikaru gently reminds Yoshiki to avert his gaze from the macabre and focus solely on him. Silently, Hikaru reflects that Yoshiki does not need coercion to follow; his unwavering loyalty ensures he will never allow anything to tear them apart.

A nostalgic echo resonates in Hikaru's mind, revisiting the tale his father once narrated—an ancient pact with the enigmatic Unuki-sama, promising to spare their family from harm. This pact carries a peculiar stipulation: should Hikaru harbor affection for someone, he must wed them promptly, for Unuki-sama has a penchant for claiming those dear to him.

Back at the academy, Yoshiki's curiosity piques regarding Hikaru's mysterious encounter in the woods, where something was reportedly 'consumed.' Hikaru, unfastening his shirt, reveals a vertical scar slicing across his chest, inviting Yoshiki to delve his hand into the wound. With each encouraging nudge to reach deeper, Hikaru senses Yoshiki's warmth, an unprecedented sensation that wraps around his very being. However, Yoshiki abruptly retracts, startled by an inexplicable pull emanating from within Hikaru.

On his way home, Yoshiki finds his thoughts inextricably tangled with the peculiar sensation of Hikaru's interior. A woman intercepts his journey, her words laced with concern as she cautions him against venturing too close to something inherently perilous. She speaks of a malevolent breeze that once emanated from the mountain but has since vanished, leaving her anxious about its newfound destination. She warns Yoshiki of the unseen entity attaching itself to him and offers her contact should he seek further counsel.

That evening, Yoshiki's mind remains a tumult of thoughts, defying his utmost efforts to quell them.
