Episode 3 of Season 3 of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" kicks off with Belly and Jeremiah immersed in a whirlwind of joy and laughter, over the moon about their engagement. They devise a plan to share their blissful news with their families over the weekend at Cousins', following the poignant dedication ceremony in honor of Susannah. Adding a touch of romance, Jeremiah pops the question once more, this time presenting Belly with a dazzling ring.
Later, Belly catches up with Taylor, who still grapples with the heartache of her breakup with Steven. When Belly reveals her engagement and upcoming nuptials to Jeremiah in the summer, Taylor's response falls short of Belly's hopeful expectations. She suspects that their rush into commitment was spurred by Steven's accident.
Meanwhile, Steven finds solace at home amidst Laurel's overprotective concern. Though Laurel berates herself for not being by his side during his ordeal, Steven finds her considerate somewhat suffocating.
Across the country at Stanford, Agnes and Conrad deliberate on Conrad's summer plans, now that his internship has come to an end. Conrad's eyes light up at the prospect of a position at another institute, one that leans heavily towards lab work rather than patient interaction.
As Belly packs up her college dorm, her roommate Anika bids her a poignant farewell. She then embarks on a journey home with her father, John, during which he narrowly avoids spilling the beans about being with Laurel when they learned about Steven's accident. Upon their arrival, Laurel and John agree to maintain a respectful distance, with John opting to skip the dedication ceremony.
Belly reconnects with Steven, gently broaching the subject that Taylor's heart still beats for him. However, Steven confesses that he never felt truly grounded in their relationship. Elsewhere, Taylor returns home to find her mother Lucinda urging her to reach out to Steven once more.
The following morning, Belly and Jeremiah share a heartfelt phone conversation. Jeremiah readily agrees to call Conrad and break the exciting news, considering Conrad's absence at the dedication. He attempts the call, but Conrad is engrossed in conversation with Agnes, who wonders why he's skipping the memorial now that his internship is no longer a hindrance. Conrad cites the overwhelming presence of people, but Agnes persuades him to attend nonetheless.
