Episode 6 of "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" opens with a stunning transition, as Lali stirs to consciousness in Austria. He finds himself surrounded by the Russians, and for the very first time, he is not jolted awake by the relentless beat of drums. Instead, his senses are greeted by the sight of milk, nourishing food, crisp clean clothes, and a cozy bed. It's a paradise of sorts... at least on the facade.

But the truth is far from rosy. Lali is a prisoner of the Russian army, and his newfound freedom is a sham. He's forced to roam the town, begging women to attend a party. The soldiers crave their presence, eager for more female companionship. There are the "prizes" dangled before them - cash and jewelry, it seems - and even married women are encouraged to show their faces.

While Lali is confined to his room, the women he lures in are subjected to unspeakable horrors. They are hurt and essentially raped, and Lali is helpless to intervene. Heather, sensing his inner torment, urges him to confront his past, to embrace the ugliness that lies beneath the surface of this supposed haven.

The scene plays out in grueling, bone-chilling detail, leaving no doubt about the atrocities committed. It's revealed that Lali was held captive for weeks, enduring the Russians' skepticism until they finally trusted him enough to leave him alone.
