Episode 2 kicks off with Dani Oxley (Kara Tointon), her heart pounding and panic gnawing at her, after catching a glimpse of her and Jimmy Spencer's (Will Mellor) intimate moments splashed across the internet. Though she manages to gather herself outdoors, her inability to reach Tim Oxley (Emmett J. Scanlan) only deepens her distress. Tim's absence is swiftly unveiled during a fleeting visit to Nina Webster's (Niamh McCann) apartment, where despite the turmoil, she maintains a semblance of composure. This fragile equilibrium shatters when Robert Caulfield (John Nayagam) announces that the students aim to hold a vigil in honor of Zac Webster (Cal O'Driscoll). Exploiting her distraction, Tim seizes the opportunity to swipe Zac's cellphone.
Matt Spencer (Forrest Bothwell) continues to grapple with the aftermath, and Jimmy's casual demeanor offers him no solace. Just when Tim and Dani are poised to address the intimate footage, DI Linda Calgetti (Gwynne McElveen) interrupts their home with an official request for Dani's presence at the station. The encounter, brief yet formal, sees Calgetti swiftly laying down the law, informing Dani that criminal charges are imminent. The revelation that a student stumbled upon and snapped the incriminating photo adds insult to injury.
Dani's plight spirals further as she discovers Tim's note upon returning home, ordering her to vacate their shared space. Suspension from school follows, and a subsequent visit to retrieve her belongings hints at an uncertain future, as a conversation with Sienna Ryan (Joni Morris) suggests she might not return at all. Her brief encounter with Caulfield is nothing short of degrading, as he scorns her for betraying her husband while he was ill—news that shocks Dani to her core.
Suspicion looms heavy throughout the episode, exacerbated by Calgetti's return, this time armed with a search warrant. She informs Dani that Zac's case has escalated to a homicide investigation. Soon, the police descend on the school, shutting it down amidst the unfolding drama. Prior to this, Matt and Sienna find a moment to speak at Zac's vigil, amid the sorrow and turmoil that envelops them all.
By the time Dani confronts Tim, she is armed with a comprehensive assortment of evidence, encompassing deleted chats with Zac and GPS coordinates that tie him to Mallory. Instead of refuting the accusations, Tim transforms the confrontation into a contentious dispute. Concurrently, Matt confronts Jimmy about his intimate involvement with Dani, and despite Jimmy's assertion that it had no bearing on his separation from Matt's mother, the exchange remains far from amicable.
Dani seeks answers from Chloe Novak (Ebby O'Tool-Acheampong) regarding Zac's demise, but her quest remains unfulfilled. Chloe seems poised to divulge something crucial but ultimately refrains from doing so. Dani's attempt to discuss Matt's alleged rift with Zac also falls short, as she only manages to speak with Jimmy. However, Jimmy urges her to report their findings to the police, a suggestion Dani clearly rejects.
Sienna struggles to address the vigil crowd but manages to speak only due to Dani's insistence. At one point, it appears as though Sienna wants to confide in Dani but ultimately decides against it. Following Matt and Sienna's speeches, Calgetti arrives and arrests Tim Oxley for Zac's murder.
After the arrest, Dani visits Nina, and despite the circumstances, she becomes irritated that Nina is not more upset with her. This sentiment shifts when Dani mentions the knife and inquires if Zac was afraid of anyone. Nina is almost incredulous that Zac would possess a knife, and the meeting concludes abruptly.
Jimmy apologizes to Matt for becoming entangled with Dani, while she and Stan Oxley (Calum Jess) openly discuss Tim's arrest. She reassures Stan that the arrest is a misunderstanding, albeit her conviction seems shaky. Meanwhile, Calgetti has virtually uncovered all the information Dani meticulously gathered. Despite the mountain of evidence stacked against him, Tim remains tight-lipped about the substance of his conversations with Zac. Calgetti assures him they will uncover the truth regardless.
The episode concludes with a brief scene depicting Matt attempting to conceal Zac's knife, leaving a cliffhanger that heightens the suspense.
