Episode 3 opens with a poignant focus on the heart-wrenching grief of Stan Oxley (played by Callum Jess) and Matt Spencer (portrayed by Forrest Bothwell), as they grapple with the recent, tumultuous events in vastly contrasting ways. Their struggles are mirrored in the disparate approaches taken by Dani Oxley (Kara Tointon) and Jimmy Spencer (Will Mellor) in their attempts to offer solace. Dani finds herself increasingly at odds with both Chloe Novack (Ebby O’Toole-Acheampong) and Jimmy, her relentless pursuit of answers leaving her unwanted in their company on this sensitive matter.
A glimmer of hope emerges for Jimmy when a brief, early-morning meeting with Headmaster Robert Caulfield (John Nayagam) reinstalls him in the classroom. Yet, Caulfield's words make it unmistakably clear that Jimmy's reinstatement stems more from necessity than any genuine endorsement of his teaching prowess.
Dani's relentless pursuit leads her to Sienna Ryan (Joni Morris), whose pregnancy revelation opens a Pandora's box of questions. Her inquiries about Sienna's intentions for the baby and the identity of the father are abruptly interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Tim Oxley (Emmett J. Scanlan), whose calm demeanor this time around contrasts sharply with the drama unfolding. Tim confesses his awareness of the affair, revealing his visit to the Mallory was solely to confront the truth. The deleted messages, he explains, were coordinates for secret meetings where he procured sleeping pills from Zac Webster (Cal O’Driscoll). He further clarifies that Zac's requests for favors did not register as blackmail in his mind. Dani, in turn, admits her loneliness and the allure of Jimmy's attention as comforting distractions. Later, Tim unveils his jealousy over Dani's dedication to her students, confessing this was the root cause of his alienation from her.
Meanwhile, Matt finds himself entangled in a physical altercation with another student, while Dani crosses-examines Nina Webster (Niamh McCann) about Zac's relationship with Sienna. Nina reveals that Zac harbored no romantic interest in girls, dropping a bombshell when she accuses Matt of harboring a crush on Sienna. Dani is astounded by this revelation, but Tim's shock intensifies when he discovers a positive pregnancy test discarded in the trash, underscoring the emotional turmoil and hidden layers of this unfolding saga.
While Tim is visibly relieved to learn that Dani is not pregnant, their conversation takes a contentious turn when she faults him for not wanting another child. He counters by asserting that he has always dreamed of a large family but was deterred by her overbearing behavior towards Stan.
Meanwhile, Jimmy's situation doesn't improve when he catches Matt with a suitcase, ready to move in with his mother. Surprisingly, this confrontation prompts Matt to confess that he has grown uneasy in his room ever since Zac kissed him there. The kiss and the awkwardness that followed were the root of their issues. After a heartfelt discussion, Matt seems much more relaxed when Jimmy vows to do whatever it takes to restore harmony, even offering to sleep on the floor of his room.
In her attempts to assist Tim, Dani inadvertently places Sienna in a dire predicament by threatening to involve the police. This ultimately leads Sienna to falsely confess to Zac's murder, claiming she did it because he wouldn't stop pursuing her. Similarly, Caulfield almost makes matters worse by arranging a meeting between Tim and Jimmy at the bar to hash things out. Adding to the tension, Matt has just lied to Jimmy about Zac's knife, and the mix of anxiety and alcohol causes the situation to rapidly deteriorate. Jimmy maintains composure, resisting the urge to overreact, until Dani arrives and insists that Tim leave.
Although Dani manages to prevent a confrontation between Tim and Jimmy, she only deepens the rift between herself and Tim. After Tim abandons her at the bar, Dani tries to reconnect with Sienna but receives no response to her messages. Desperate, she even visits the group home where Sienna resides, only to be turned away due to the late hour.
Unbeknownst to Dani, Sienna is not at the home and seems to be en route to meet someone. The episode concludes with Sienna lying motionless in a dark forest, as if she has just been brutally slain by the person she was meant to encounter.
