The Witch – K-drama Episode 4 1

Elsewhere, Dong-jin abruptly quits his job, realizing that procrastination in addressing Mi-jeong's case would haunt him forever. Determined, he moves into the same building as her, setting his sights on the apartment nestled directly beneath hers. However, the unit is already inhabited by a part-time worker from a neighboring convenience store. Undeterred, Dong-jin embarks on a relentless campaign to secure the apartment, bombarding the man with forced conversations, leaving behind edibles and gifts, and eventually wearing him down through sheer persistence. The man eventually caves, paving the way for Dong-jin to strike a deal and take possession of the apartment.

Later, the narrative unfolds to reveal the identity of the suspect who vandalized Dong-jin's car—a once-thriving business owner who was reduced to bankruptcy after the bank reversed its debt policies, policies that Dong-jin had a hand in crafting. Returning from the police station, Dong-jin is ambushed and brutalized by the desperate man, who blames him for his financial downfall. Yet, Dong-jin refrains from retaliation, absorbing the beating with stoic resilience. He later invites the assailant to dinner, where he offers a heartfelt apology while acknowledging that he was merely fulfilling his professional duties, albeit perhaps with excessive diligence.

Meanwhile, Jung-hyeok embarks on a new case, one that involves a woman teetering on the brink of danger. He reassures her that she will be shrouded in the protective embrace of the police, with help just a button press away. However, when the dire moment arrives and she pleas for assistance, Jung-hyeok's arrival is too little, too late. Her former partner strikes with ferocity, leaving her gravely injured and hospital-bound.

Elsewhere, Dong-jin engages in a meeting with the proprietor of a casino, striving diligently to secure employment for the gentleman whose financial ruin was a direct consequence of his professional endeavors. Subsequently, we witness Mi-jeong venturing out into the night, consistently around the hour when midnight has long passed and the streets lie enveloped in a serene quietude. She dedicates her time to the company of stray cats, confiding in them about how their encounters make her feel akin to a sorceress. Unbeknownst to her serene demeanor, Dong-jin has been surreptitiously trailing her steps and eavesdropping on her conversations, hidden from plain sight.

The following day, Dong-jin embarks on a journey back to his hometown, reconnecting with cherished friends from his past and revisiting the halls of his alma mater. Additionally, he initiates an exhaustive quest to compile as much pertinent data as feasible regarding Mi-jeong's predicament.
