Meanwhile, in another corner of the continent, Ciri embarks on her maiden heist with the Rats, their target the village tax collector. Asse guides her through the plan with a steadfast hand, but their inexperience proves their undoing, drawing unwanted attention from the soldiers. Ciri, with her unwavering loyalty to Mistle, sacrifices her position to save her friend. As more soldiers converge, Ciri creates a diversion by hurling the stolen gold at the villagers, allowing them to escape in a flash of chaos.

Elsewhere, Yen sets out on a mission to enlist the mages who stand against Vilgefortz's tyranny. She apologizes to Philippa for her initial skepticism and then turns to Fringilla, offering her a covert role in bringing down Vilgefortz. Fringilla hesitates, but Yen reminds her of the consequences should Vilgefortz triumph – Emhyr's fate would be sealed in the bargain.

Back at the cemetery, Geralt limps through his wounds, insisting he's unscathed. Their journey leads them to Emiel Regis, a herbalist and barber-surgeon who resides in the cemetery for safety's sake. He offers them sanctuary for the night, indulging them with Mandrake liquor and examining Geralt's injury with a practiced eye.

As for the Rats, they hide in the village shadows as the soldiers hunt for them. Their discontentment towards Ciri boils over, blaming her for their misfortune. Frustrated, Ciri contemplates leaving but relents for Mistle's sake.

Teryn's softness and hesitance towards pain and violence arouses Emhyr's suspicion. In a duel that tests their mettle, he discovers that she is not Ciri. Fury consumes him as he realizes that Vilgefortz has deceived him with an imposter – and now he is desperate to find the true Ciri, for she is key to fulfilling the prophecy.

At Regis's, the mischievous alcohol leads to a torrent of truths being spilled. Regis claims it's his way of knowing he can trust them, but Geralt's upset mood spurs him to storm off, his heart yearning for a simple and happy life with Ciri and Yen. The dream ends with Ciri leaving flowers on their graves, a poignant symbol of her longing for them.

Ciri awakens with a start, the villagers already at their doorstep, grateful for the return of their money and eager to help them escape. The Rats, impressed by Kayleigh's unwavering loyalty, initiate Ciri into their group. As they prepare to leave, we catch a glimpse of Kayleigh with a wanted poster of Ciri in her hand.

Regis, apologetic for his actions, offers to join Geralt's group to tend to the witcher's wounds. His reasons are vague, citing his desire to no longer be alone. But before he departs, he inhales deeply from the bandage soaked in Geralt's blood.

Meanwhile, Vilgefortz holds Istredd captive under an illusion, convinced that Yen has saved him and is translating the Book of Monolith for her. On top of this, Fringilla approaches Vilgefortz with news of Yen's plan, claiming she simply wants to be on the winning side by destroying the Brotherhood.

Thankfully, Philippa has joined Yen as they once again slay the mages sent by Vilgefortz. They are now on the hunt for Francesca to recruit her to their cause.

Cahir has been shadowing Geralt, and Milva knows this as she leaves him supplies. As they set out, Geralt notices that the funeral wreath from his dream is in fact a flower crown for Beata, one of the human girls in Zoltan's group. The symbolism is not lost on him as he continues on his journey. And as Regis inhales Geralt's blood from the bandage, the threads of their stories weave together in a complex tapestry of fate.
