This City Is Ours – Season 1 Episode 3 1

As Michael immerses himself in the shower, Diana is haunted by the wails of an infant emanating from elsewhere. Peering through the door's crack, she catches sight of Jamie descending the stairs, engaged in a conversation with Melissa Phelan (Darci Shaw) over the phone. Rachel Duffy (Laura Aikman) joins him in the kitchen, seeking juice, and reveals her attempts to discuss business matters with Ronnie, emphasizing her credentials as a qualified accountant. Elaine (Julie Graham) notes Ronnie's continued absence outdoors and decides to administer a bracing shower to rouse him. Michael, observing them through the window, witnesses Elaine's realization of Ronnie's demise, her screams echoing through the house. He ensures Diana is prepared, as he himself belts out a summons for Banksey (Mike Noble). Bobby Duffy (Kevin Harvey) dashes past them in a hurry.

Emerging outdoors, Michael suggests bringing Ronnie indoors. Jamie vows to seek retribution against whoever orchestrated this tragedy against his father. In a hushed conversation, Banksey inquires into the nature of their predicament. Michael solemnly declares it an execution, tasking Banksey with retrieving the firearm and securing the premises. Bobby assists Michael in transporting the body indoors, while Banksey secures the weapon. Jamie declares his intention to uncover the perpetrator, despite Banksey's assurance of having witnessed nothing from his vantage point on the roof. Jamie suspects the Colombians, an assertion met with skepticism from Michael and Bobby. Michael ponders the wisdom of involving the authorities, ultimately deciding against it, opting instead to transport Ronnie home themselves. Michael envisions Ronnie passing peacefully in his sleep, receiving the send-off he rightfully deserves, perhaps prompting the perpetrator to come forward upon hearing of his serene demise. Banksey suggests keeping a close eye on Jamie.

In a confidential exchange, Michael confides in Bobby that only Jamie is privy to Ronnie's thoughts when he sought a reprieve from the Amigos instead of lemon. Michael grapples with the uncertainty of their endeavors. Shortly thereafter, Rachel confides in Michael, revealing her contemplation over Cheryl Crawford (Saoirse-Monica Jackson) and her plans to arrange flights. Rachel anticipates Cheryl's desire for answers regarding her husband's fate.

Michael announces their plan to inform her of his trip to Estepona, clarifying that this is the extent of their knowledge. Rachel inquiries whether she's privy to the reason behind his journey, prompting Michael to redirect her question to Ronnie. Meanwhile, Banksey inspects the premises, while Diana's mind drifts back to a woman's frantic cries echoing her name – until Michael's abrupt announcement about booking flights silences her thoughts. Diana, eager to depart at the earliest, confides in Michael that she'd glimpsed and observed him; however, he firmly denies it was him.

Jamie vents to Melissa about Michael's overbearing demeanor, akin to a ruler of the universe. Melissa, anxious about their safety, seeks reassurance from Jamie, who confirms they're secure. She wonders aloud about the perpetrator and cautions Jamie against letting emotions overshadow reason. Their conversation veers towards firearms, with Melissa emphasizing the peril of untrained individuals wielding guns. Ronnie's absence.

In the car, Michael confides in Diana his desire to accompany her during the embryo implantation, believing it will rejuvenate their excitement. Diana, however, is haunted by the prospect of Michael being detained at the border with a deceased individual in his vehicle. Before heading to the airport, Michael meets with Ricardo (Daniel Cerqueira) and Stefania (Yolanda Vazquez), informing them of Ronnie's demise and the loss of their latest shipment. Stefania expresses concern over payment, given their lack of inventory, but Michael negotiates for a second consignment on the old terms, offering all profits to safeguard his market dominance. Ricky warns Michael about Ronnie's son's ambition to fill his father's shoes and inquiries about Jamie's suspicions, which Michael downplays, suggesting Jamie might instead suspect Ricky. He urges Ricky to capitalize on the opportunity and conclude their affairs.

Returning to Diana, Michael confirms his meeting with the Amigos, expressing trust in their loyalty. They needed to be apprised of Ronnie's fate and Michael's newfound authority, which Diana understands as necessary.

Later, Michael convenes with Elaine and the others to devise a strategy for transporting Ronnie's body discreetly. Bobby arranges for a van and freezer, while Elaine expresses her desire to accompany Michael on the two-day journey. She wonders aloud if Jamie would wish to join, suggesting he might prefer to stay with Melissa and the baby, though she offers to ask. Elaine reflects on Ronnie's unexpected absence from their bed, to which Michael jokes that he didn't want the party to conclude.

Outside, Jamie contacts Bonehead (Bobby Schofield), requesting a favor. He inquiries if Bonehead and Blink can make haste to Spain, emphasizing the need for someone "damaged." Meanwhile, Michael and his companions prepare Ronnie's body for transport, with Bobby assisting in loading the van. Elaine rides alongside Jamie, pondering the identity of Ronnie's killer, while Jamie admits a part of him suspects Michael, citing his own sidelining during the Amigos meeting.

Inside the van, Michael confronts Banksey, asserting that Jamie must be involved. He cautions against jumping to conclusions about Jamie, suggesting they interrogate him, maintain a straight face, and observe his reactions when he lies. Banksey, however, can't shake the image of Ronnie's carefree demeanor from the previous night.

Meanwhile, in the car, Elaine confides in Jamie, revealing that his father had a penchant for using loaded dice. She expresses her fear that this past indiscretion might have finally caught up with them, especially as their rival had grown overly ambitious. Elaine further discloses that Ronnie had been discreetly passing information to the police, emphasizing his cunning rather than treacherous nature. Jamie posits that Ronnie's death could be a consequence of someone discovering his actions.

As they all halt at a restaurant, Elaine expresses her desire to accompany Ronnie, albeit symbolically, as they board the ferry. She directs her query to Michael, wondering who could be behind this. Michael admits ignorance, noting that they've been discussing it with no concrete answers. He also observes that Ronnie hadn't been himself since the previous day. He then asks Jamie if Ronnie had shared anything with him upon their return, to which Jamie responds by mentioning a casual inquiry about the source of the lemons Davy was selling, although he himself is unaware of the details.

Michael suggests that Ronnie had been growing closer to Davy, hinting at a possible motive rooted in something Davy had said that irked Ronnie. Jamie continues to profess ignorance. Elaine, meanwhile, believes Ronnie kept her out of the loop because he didn't want to involve her. Michael checks the home doorbell camera and notices Diana returning. When he calls her, she doesn't pick up, lost in her own thoughts about the night she committed the murder, recalling the woman's desperate pleas and the grotesque task of cleaning a bloody knife.

Needing to recharge the battery, Michael halts their journey temporarily. Jamie contacts Bonehead to ascertain their location, confirming their ferry booking. He reveals his intent to ensure Michael Kavanagh never returns to Liverpool, desiring permanent damage. Bonehead, recognizing the gravity of the name, expresses hope that Jamie has thoroughly considered his actions, before confirming they have the necessary means with them.

Eventually, the van rumbles onward towards the ferry, its journey resumed. Inside, Elaine declares that Ronnie would never set foot on a ship, her voice tinged with certainty. She catches sight of officials pulling over vehicles, and to her surprise, Blink and Bonehead are among them. Michael expertly maneuvers the van onto the ferry and, shortly thereafter, retires to his cabin.

Diana administers an injection to herself, her brow furrowed in concentration. She dives into the depths of the internet, searching for Lesley Williams. Her efforts yield a grim newspaper article detailing how her mother had taken the life of her father, Daniel. Lesley (played by Leanne Best) was handed a twenty-year sentence for her crime. Michael's call interrupts her thoughts, his voice resonating with gratitude as he confirms that Diana's understanding means the world to him.

Driven by curiosity and perhaps a semblance of closure, Diana ventures to HMP Bollin to confront her mother. She confides in Lesley, sharing her struggle to reconstruct the shattered fragments of the past. Lesley dismisses it as a distant memory, a chapter closed. She asserts that she wouldn't alter a thing, finding peace and happiness in her current state. Diana probes further, asking if Lesley believes her actions were necessary. With unwavering conviction, Lesley affirms that Daniel's reign of terror needed to be halted before it escalated further. The conversation shifts to Diana's partner, whom she describes as akin to Daniel yet deeply loving towards her. Lesley requests a phone number, promising to return Diana's call should she text her.

Elsewhere, Jamie crosses paths with Bonehead, who hands him a small vial. Jamie outlines his sinister plan: to drug Michael's drink, ensuring he passes out in his cabin, followed by Bonehead suffocating him. Bonehead, wary of the omnipresent surveillance cameras, expresses his reservations. Jamie, undeterred, mentions Ronnie, implying a similar fate awaits those who cross him. Bonehead warns him that his mindset is skewed, but Jamie remains steadfast. He spikes the drink and waits patiently for Michael to join him.

Michael, noticing Jamie in conversation with Bonehead, who reassures him of their good standing, eventually joins his companion when he is alone. He takes a sip of the laced drink, unaware of its contents. Jamie, inquisitive about their next steps, receives a vague response from Michael suggesting a group discussion. He urges Jamie to focus on his mother's well-being. As Michael consumes more of the poisoned liquor, Blink enters the room. Michael excuses himself to the bathroom, where he confronts Blink, demanding and verifying his identity. He snapshots the details for future reference.

A wave of dizziness washes over Michael, his steps unsteady as he navigates his way back to his cabin. Jamie trails behind him, concern mingling with anticipation. Michael barely manages to open the cabin door before collapsing to the floor, lifeless. Jamie looms over him, his face a mask of resolve.
