Episode 9 of the first season of Tracker takes us to the serene town of Aurora, Vermont, where a chilling mystery has been lingering for three long years. Lana and Jamie, two local schoolgirls, vanished one day after they were supposed to walk home from school. Their disappearance sent shockwaves through the community, and three days later, the heartbreaking discovery of Jamie's body only deepened the mystery.

Now, in the present day, a photograph taken at the county fair two weeks ago has thrown the investigation into a new light. Gavin Russo, Lana's father, insists that the photo depicts his missing daughter. He approaches Detective Brock, who handled the case, but she remembers Gavin's past behavior, constantly coming in with unsubstantiated leads that ultimately led to dead ends.

Tracker – Season 1 Episode 9 1

According to Brock's recollection, the girls were known to be troublemakers at school, fascinated by the Harkwood Mental Hospital. They spent their free time snooping around the abandoned hospital, searching for clues to support their outrageous supernatural theories. But their investigations never yielded any concrete evidence.

Colter, determined to solve this case, contacts the photographer who captured the photo at the fair. The photographer provides them with higher-resolution images that, when compared to the police database, show a striking resemblance to Lana.

Gavin mentions Tobias Calhoon, a member of the film club who was close to the girls. Tobias mysteriously dropped out of school six months after the disappearance, adding another layer of intrigue to the case. Colter tracks him down at his workplace and interrogates him about his connection to the girls. Tobias reveals that the girls were fascinated by the legend of the Harkwood witch and her rumored presence at the hospital.

Videos recovered from Toby's possession reveal that someone was stalking the girls at the hospital years ago. Brock and Colter visit the abandoned hospital, following the clues from the videos. Behind the same wall from the video footage, they discover a hidden mattress and blanket, a chilling reminder of the girls' fate.

As the investigation deepens, Colter stumbles upon a man trying to flee the scene. After a brief chase, Colter apprehends the man, who identifies himself as Richard. Richard, a known delinquent who often sought refuge at the hospital and had brushes with the law, confesses to seeing Lana a few days ago near the river, heading into the forested area. He adds that she was not alone; someone was accompanying her, dressed in a yellow coat.

Immediately, Detective Brock's mind flashes back to an old case, where a boy was kidnapped, brutally murdered, and buried, wrapped in a yellow raincoat. The realization sends a chill down her spine, and she knows they are now on the brink of uncovering the truth behind the disappearance of Lana and Jamie.

Errol Price, the convicted killer, has been languishing in jail since his conviction. Prior to his prison visit, Colter and Helen engage in a profound discussion about their personal struggles. Colter assumes a guise of someone deeply troubled, masking his true intentions.

During their encounter, Errol remains guarded and reluctant to reveal much. His facade of silence persists until Colter dangles the carrot of prison privileges in front of him. Slowly, Errol's defenses crumble, and he begins to unveil his tortured past. He speaks of the horrors of his childhood, reliving the abuse he suffered under his father's hand. He even claims to have once housed a demonic entity within him, but asserts that it is now banished.

Colter dismisses these claims as mere superstition and suspects that Errol might have had an accomplice in the abduction of Lana. Determined to unearth the truth, he visits Maeve, Errol's sister. As she busies herself preparing tea, Colter's gaze falls upon a bag in the living room labeled "Aurora Bloodrive." This is the exact stall where Lana was photographed, a discovery that sets Colter's heart racing.

Without hesitation, he draws his gun and strides deeper into the house, determined to confirm his suspicions. Maeve, however, is quick to sense his intentions and rushes to the basement, her guilt weighing heavily on her conscience. She lunges at Colter from behind, but he manages to overpower her and rescue Lana from her clutches.

The reunion between Lana and her family is emotional and tearful, while Maeve is swiftly arrested and taken into custody. Detective Brock later reveals that Maeve and Errol had a strange affinity for the hospital, feeling a sense of kinship with the place. It was there that Maeve had her eyes set on the vulnerable girls, luring them in with tales of the supernatural. It was pure luck that Lana's photograph had been taken, setting in motion this chain of events that ultimately led to her rescue.
