Two Graves – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Meanwhile, Beltrán, miraculously stirring from his slumber, reaches for the phone to summon the authorities. Yet, his words are suffocated by the encroaching darkness, and he slips into silence, his life extinguished. Upon her return, Isabel, oblivious to his fateful call, brutally severs any chance of rescue by shoving his lifeless form into the freezer. With practiced indifference, she shifts the meat aside, her gaze fixed on the television screen as she dissects the flesh, each cut a testament to her turmoil. The sight of Carlos on TV acts as a catalyst, stirring deep-seated emotions within her.

Interrupting her grim task, a police call informs her of Lupé's sorry state—drunk and disheveled. Later, Lupé confesses her academic struggles, a house of cards built on false grades, tired of living in Vero's towering shadow. Zaera's visit, seeking answers about Beltrán's mysterious disappearance, puts Isabel in the spotlight. As the last known person to see him, her casual demeanor and fabricated tale of Beltrán's hasty departure barely mask her guilt. Before leaving, Zaera kindly offers to connect Lupé with a therapist, an offer Isabel hastily declines.

In the afternoon, Isabel brokers a deal with Rafael, unveiling her involvement in the party and Carlos's role. She insists on witnessing Rafael's interrogation of Carlos firsthand and pleads for his assistance in ridding her of Beltrán's corpse. Without hesitation, Rafael seizes Carlos on his way to escape, turning vacation plans into a chain of events beyond his control.

Back at her abode, Ceferino's heart is wounded as Isabel turns down his company, shutting the door on their potential evening out. As evening descends, Antonio visits, sharing a bombshell: the police have discovered incriminating sexual photos of Marta and Vero on Beltrán's computer, tying him to Vero's ongoing case. Isabel feigns shock, as if this revelation is a surprise long overdue, her act meticulously crafted to mask her intimate connection to the unfolding drama.

The media, catching wind of the incriminating photos, have embarked on a full-throttle coverage of the saga. António finds himself engulfed in worry, contemplating the repercussions on Lupé. In a gesture of solidarity, Isabel visits Lupé, offering her comforting words. Meanwhile, Zaera pays an unannounced visit to Rafael, inquiring whether he had prior knowledge of the fateful party or its attendees. Rafael's fury knows no bounds as he believes the police are scapegoating him for his daughter's untimely demise. When Zaera seeks his cooperation, Rafael summarily ejects him, aware of Zaera's treacherous act of leaking the intimate photos to the press.

The media circus intensifies, splashing the photos across headlines and sharing Beltran's frantic emergency call. The audio clip reveals the haunting sound of Ceferino's whistle piercing through the night. Amidst this turmoil, Rafael reaches out to Isabel, requesting a meeting to delve into Carlos' revelations. Isabel can't help but feel miffed at Rafael's impatience, not waiting for her input.

Rafael harbors doubts about Carlos' guilt, postulating that a third girl might hold the key to unraveling the mystery. He implores Isabel to assist in locating this elusive figure who accompanied Vero and Marta on that fateful night. According to Carlos' description, she was a mutual friend bearing a distinctive birthmark on her forehead.

Later, Isabel's path crosses with Ceferino once more, and she firmly declines his advances. In retaliation, he threatens to expose himself as the whistler in the Beltran call to the authorities. Isabel dismisses his threat with a shrug and continues on her way. Determined to uncover the truth, Isabel heads to Vero's alma mater, leveraging her former employment to gain access to Vero's school records. Her search yields a breakthrough: the identity of the girl in question—Jamila, who vanished from the town immediately after the incident.

Upon returning home, Isabel is met with awaiting police officers. With quick thinking, she fabricates a plausible story about her freezer malfunctioning to explain the mysterious blood trail. The police, provisionally accepting her explanation, promise to revisit the matter upon completing a blood analysis. When Zaera grills her about Beltran, Isabel feigns ignorance with convincing ease.

In the dusky evening hours, Isabel confronts Rafael with a steadfast resolve, insisting that she must speak with Carlos prior to any further discussion. Reluctantly, Rafael acquiesces and escorts her to Carlos's presence, where they once again subject him to rigorous questioning. This encounter, however, takes a dark turn as Rafael, in Isabel's very presence, terminates Carlos's life. As they prepare to depart, Isabel confides in Rafael about Jamila, her concerns heavy on her heart.

Just as she steps away, her phone buzzes with an urgent call – Lupé has attempted suicide and is now in critical condition at the hospital. Without a moment's hesitation, Isabel dashes to the hospital, her mind racing with worry.

In the hospital room, Lupé confesses her desperate act stemmed from an overwhelming longing for Vero and the cruel barbs hurled by the relentless media. The sting of their malicious inquiries, even reaching out to Lupé herself for comments on Vero, has left her deeply wounded. As they offer Lupé their solace, Antonio drops a startling revelation that rocks everyone to the core: Vero is, in fact, still alive. Isabel's astonished visage speaks louder than words, her emotions swirling in a whirlwind of disbelief and shock.
