In the second episode of "Unconditional," Orna returns to Israel, a month after the initial turmoil. Gali's constant transfer between prisons has made it difficult to pinpoint her exact location. Orna creates a social media page to garner support, which quickly becomes trending. Despite the basic platitudes, there's little they can do beyond exerting pressure on the authorities. Orna also interviews with Channel 12 and meets with the Foreign Ministry, doing everything in her power to push for action.

The situation involving the passports remains a point of contention. Orna eventually meets with Dori, an old flame who works for the Shin Bet. She shows him the passports, and he agrees to delve deeper and try to uncover any information. Afterward, Orna meets with the Foreign Ministry, who have heard about the social media post. After some warm platitudes, they get down to business. Neither Maxim, the lawyer, nor Orna have been able to see Gali, and every time they gain visitation rights, she's moved to a different jail. There's no concrete evidence or court date, but they warn Orna to keep quiet and stop stirring up trouble. They want her to step back so they can take over, but given that she only gained this meeting thanks to the post on social media, it doesn't inspire much confidence in her.

Orna meets with some of Gali's friends next, selecting photos for the public appearance. One of them mentions how Gali was arrested in the past, a fact that Orna was unaware of. Apparently, she was just caught up in it because Neta was caught smoking weed in the park. This was back in 11th grade, around the same time Orna's husband, Benny, started to get sick with Alzheimer's. We've heard bits and pieces of his condition throughout the series, with episode 1 explaining that the gas has been turned off at his place for his own safety. Benny doesn't know about Gali, but he's starting to get suspicious.

Back to Orna for now, she heads to Channel 12, prepping for her interview. The interviewer wants her to lean into the Benny story and really lay it on thick, but Orna is hesitant to do so. She does mention how Betty, the woman she met earlier at the Foreign Ministry, is a political appointee and apparently her job is to stonewall people. It rattles Orna, especially as she's caught between a rock and a hard place here.

Dori delves into his research and scrutinizes the passports, uncovering that one of the individuals is named Wojtek Ignacy. Though he resides near Poznan, he embarked on a journey to India a few months prior, coinciding with Gali's trip. However, this man is armed and dangerous, a wanted fugitive. The passport is a stolen and fraudulent document that may have deceived the border police but will not escape the attention of the real authorities... but why does Gali possess it?

In the morning, Betty attempts to persuade Orna not to proceed with the interview, but her efforts are met with little success. The atmosphere between them becomes strained as a result. Orna begins to spiral out of control, although Ido from the Foreign Ministry does meet with her and reassures her that she's doing the right thing.

The interview commences, but unfortunately, things quickly go off the rails. Due to Orna divulging information about Gali's past, the interviewer cuts her off and announces on-air that Gali has been involved with drugs in the past. This puts Orna in a difficult situation, especially since Ido is the one intentionally besmirching her cause. Orna is angered but Ido leaves before she can confront him.

With the interview a failure, things take a tragic turn when Benny is contacted by some radio hosts. They bring up the rumor that Gali is in a Russian prison, and as he begins to spiral out of control, the radio hosts decide to hang up on him.

Fortunately, there's a glimmer of hope in the form of a new media narrative. After the incident with the radio, Channel 12 runs a sympathetic campaign about Orna's family being hounded. She's granted a radio interview by Orit, but Orna's mental state deteriorates further. She realizes that a picture from her time in the army shows a man in the background. The same man who matches the fake Polish passport.
