Under the Bridge – Season 1 Episode 5 1

A somber service is held for Reena, where Raj introduces Suman and Manjit to the mourners. Rebecca reveals herself as a writer working on a novel chronicling the lives of the Girls of Victoria. During the service, Rebecca speaks with Cam, who confirms Manjit's story of innocence. It transpires that Manjit was wrongly arrested after Reena filed a false complaint, manipulated by Josephine. Rebecca offers to meet Josephine again in hopes of getting more information about what truly happened to Reena that fateful night.

Cam takes a rebellious stance and boldly tells the media that Reena's assault was likely perpetrated by the unruly teens of the local school. She even suggests that Reena's race could have been a contributing factor in her murder, sparking outrage and controversy. Roy questions Cam's rebellious behavior, and she reveals that she has delved into Manjit's Virk records and discovered that everything Reena accused him of was a lie, likely influenced by someone else's meddling. The revelation throws the investigation into further confusion, leaving everyone wondering who could be responsible for such a heinous crime.

After Cam's revealing statements, the media swarmed the school like hungry sharks, hungry for statements from the children regarding Reena's mysterious death. Warren, filled with a sense of duty, longed to share his knowledge with the police, but Samara, his anxious girlfriend, cautioned him against it, fearing that he might be dragged into the clutches of the law. Samara's fears were further exacerbated by the knowledge that Kelly, if she learned of her involvement, might seek revenge and target her as well.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a thorough search of Kelly's locker, uncovering a sketchbook filled with depictions of violence that were chilling to behold. Among the disturbing drawings, one particularly stood out, showing a cigarette burn etched between a girl's eyes, a sickening replica of the mark found on Reena's lifeless body.

Rebecca, ever the protector, swooped in to rescue the trio, warning them that Cam had set his sights on them and that she was their only hope of survival. At the diner, Kelly proposed a wild plan, suggesting they flee to the safety of Mexico if the heat became too intense, comparing their situation to the life of gangsters on the run. Reena, her heart filled with compassion, offered to assist them in crossing the border on a ferry and begged Kelly to surrender any evidence linking them to Reena's demise, promising to dispose of it discretely.

Later, Kelly led Rebecca to the headquarters of their gang, a den of tough-looking teenagers adorned with tattoos. She warned them about Rebecca's association with the police, but when confronted, Kelly revealed that they couldn't trust Rebecca with the evidence, fearing she might betray them and turn it over to the authorities. In a calculated move, Kelly ordered Dusty to make an anonymous call to the police, falsely accusing Warren of following Reena on the fateful day. Kelly's plan was to frame Warren for the crime, allowing them to flee to Mexico while the police were busy interrogating him.

However, Dusty had no intention of fleeing and desperately tried to persuade her sister to let her stay, but her sister's loyalty to the law prevailed, and she called the cops. Cam stepped in, seizing the opportunity to take Dusty to the police station. He played the recording of Dusty's call, but she steadfastly refused to back down, sticking to her original statement despite Cam's threats and intimidation. Cam warned Dusty that her friends would eventually turn on her, but she remained loyal to the end.

Meanwhile, Warren, his conscience heavy, confessed to Rebecca that Kelly was the one who killed Reena. He recounted the events of that fateful day, explaining that he had tried to stop Kelly, but her determination to harm Reena was unwavering. At Seven Oaks, Kelly boasted about her crime, her arrogance knowing no bounds. This enraged Dusty, who could no longer contain her anger and punched Kelly, breaking her nose in a fit of rage.
