Episode 2 of "Unfamiliar" begins with a flashback in Belarus, where Katya is dying and Gregor is in desperate need of a hospital. Meret decides to accompany Gregor and the baby to the hospital, leaving Simon behind to handle the aftermath of Katya's death. However, Simon defies Gregor's orders and saves Katya with a blood transfusion.

Present day, Meret confronts Simon about his deception, but he explains that it was the best decision for everyone, including the baby - revealing that Nina is indeed Katya's child. Meanwhile, Josef is on a call with a senior official from the Russian government, who urges him to rehire Jonas due to his exceptional skills.
Simon and Meret leave the assassin's body on a public bench, with Meret keeping watch from a rooftop. When the police and BND arrive, she spots Jonas and recognizes him. Meanwhile, Simon heads to the hospital to retrieve Katya.
At the BND, Ben instructs Julika to investigate the body found on the bench, which has been identified as an MI6 agent. She enlists the help of her colleague and ex-girlfriend, Alice. Elsewhere, Vera arrives in Berlin, and Josef welcomes her to their new apartment. She questions him about the Belarus case, but he remains tight-lipped.
At the hospital, Simon disguises himself as a janitor and administers a pill to Katya, causing her to have a seizure. In doctor's attire, Simon and Meret transport Katya to a van in the parking lot. While Simon takes Katya to the safe house, Meret deletes the CCTV footage and discovers that Simon's patient logs reveal that he didn't faint due to blood pressure but suffered from a brain aneurysm.
Back at the safe house, Katya reveals that she came to Berlin to confront Josef Koleev about her survival. She is still bitter about his role in the death of her baby. A flashback shows Simon receiving a call from Meret at the Belarus safe house, where she declares her love for the baby and names her Nina, wanting to form a family. When Katya awakens, Simon lies to her, showing her a fake grave as proof that her baby is dead.
Currently, Meret is engaged in a heated argument with Simon, accusing him of lying not only to her but also to Katya. To shield Nina from the turmoil, they decide to send her on a trip to Paris with her friend. At the BND, Alice informs Julia that she has discovered a fingerprint on the deceased's body and has identified it as belonging to Helena Kohn (Meret's maiden name). She was married to Karl Brehme (Simon's real name), and both of them are listed as killed in action.
Elsewhere, Josef approaches Jonas with an offer to hire him once again. However, when Jonas expresses reluctance, Josef threatens to harm his three children. Josef then leaves a voice message for his mole, warning them to reveal Gregor's location.
Meanwhile, Julika and Alice uncover CCTV footage of Gregor from the bar where the female assassin attempted to attack him. In the footage, Gregor instructs the agents to search for the girl and locate Josef Koleev. Ben is aware of one of Gregor's safe houses but refuses to share the information with Julika. Shortly thereafter, Josef receives Gregor's location and passes it on to Jonas.
Julika takes matters into her own hands and discovers the location of the safe house from Gregor and Ben's mission several years ago. She arrives at the house to find two mercenaries attacking Gregor. Gregor urges her to flee, and she complies.
Meret and Simon bid Nina farewell at the train station, knowing full well that something is amiss but choosing not to disclose it. After she departs, the couple's argument escalates further as Meret remains resentful about being deceived. She brings up his aneurysm, prompting him to lash out at her for delving into his medical records.
On the train, Nina decides not to proceed to Paris and instead seeks to uncover what's happening with her parents. Elsewhere, the mercenaries deliver Gregor to Josef, who informs him that his daughter is still alive.
